Typhoon 3-2 Winton Yellows

Another close game against Winton, this time not ruined by the ref. I thought Typhoon were the better team and played more and better football but Winton were very dangerous on the break, something that we hadn’t learned to deal with after last week.
Reece scored direct from a corner but they equalised from, guess what, a ball over the top for their paces strikers to run on to. Will got on the scoresheet again and then Sam doubled our advantage, smashing in from the edge of the box after some lovely footwork from Jamie.
We got sloppy for the rest of the half, possibly thinking we’d done enough. We were actually lucky still to be ahead at the interval, with them scoring when we were far, far too slow pushing out and playing them offside and then them wasting an excellent chance from a free kick.
There were no goals in the second half as the game continued in a similar vein, Typhoon being the better team but being hit repeatedly on the break. Jamie forced their keeper into an excellent save (he does seem to bring the best out of opposition keepers) but we also needed some great work by Liam and a goal line clearance from Ryan O to protect the lead.
MoM was Milonga, brave and committed as ever at the heart of the defence.
