- Beechy Denied Victory After Good Performance
Following a Really Good All-Round Performance Beechy Open Age Storm had to Settle for a 2-2 draw.
At home to Davyhulme Park who occupied second place in Division 2 Beechy Open Age Storm were denied a deserved victory after conceding a late equalising goal. In ideal conditions Storm made confident start and there was an early chance of a goal but Harry Officer fired the ball wide of the target. Beechy eventually took the lead via Louis Al Khali who side footed the ball home following a cross by Max O'Brien. Producing some very good attacking football the visitors gradually got a better foothold in the game but Storm were well organised all over the pitch. Beechy keeper Andrew Woodward was forced into action and he made two great saves to guarantee Storm still held their slender lead at half time. Despite making a couple of forced changes Beechy continued to frustrate Davyhulme Park in the second with some dogged defending. But the visitors were gifted an equalising goal for 1-1 due to a shocking decisions by the referee. Cole Higson had a decent goalscoring opportunity before Storm regained the lead when Harry Officer finally beat the keeper at the second attempt. The visitors won a free kick in the closing minutes and somehow the ball deflected to a Davyhulme striker and he made it 2-2 with a close range finish.
