- Junior Section Match Details 5th/6th October 2024
On Saturday 5th October 2024 Beechfield United Under 12's Tornadoes maintained their winning start to the season in the Salford and Districts Junior League.
*In their Division 1 top of the table clash against Salford United Devils the TORNADOES (9v9) made a big statement on the day when they played their best football so far this season. The players attitude was so much better and that allowed the Beechy Boys to produce an excellent display. Man of the Match Lucio Riva (2) Zack MacKinnon (2) Max Blood (2) and Daniel Badewa scored the goals as the Tornadoes secured a 7-0 victory. Assists for the goals came via Luke Bennett, Archie Charles, Max Blood and Lucio Riva.
*There was a rare defeat in the Salford and Districts Junior League for the Under 10's STORM following their Red Group away fixture with Salford Storm Lightning. In a very tight game Beechy lacked the quality in the final third which ultimately cost them dearly. Beechy had many chances but they were unable to convert them into goals. Salford Storm scored a scrappy goal in the second half against the run of play. Harry Chambers and Harry Heathcote- Clare were voted Man of the Match.
*Suffering a frustrating thirty minutes each way in their Manchester Youth Super League game with Strike JFC were the Under 11's LIGHTNING (9v9). Beechy just couldn't get a foothold in the contest and found themselves three goals down. Following a stern half time team talk Lightning's players came out fighting and they were rewarded when Eshan Shanahan reduced the arrears from the penalty spot. Beechy's confidence grew as they started to create more chances but unfortunately Lightning conceded another goal after an unstoppable strike by a JFC player. Heads didn't drop, infact Lightning looked even more determined and Austin Fillingham with a fine finish from a tight angle fired home Beechy's second goal. Kayson Gregg was bossing the defence and Crewe Reeves was running his socks off in midfield and an own goal following an Austin Fillingham corner got Lightning within one goal of their opponents. But Beechy couldn't find another goal and ultimately due to the slow start eventually lost the game. Man of the Match was Crewe Reeves who put in an unbelievable performance as he carried the team on his own at times.
*Also in action in the Manchester Youth Super League were Beechy Under 10's THUNDER who met Partington and Carrington. Every Beechy player worked extremely hard as the team produced some great play plus several top-class goals that earned Thunder an emphatic victory. On target with the goals were Sonny Phillips, Edan McHugh and Harley Cosgrove-Newby. Following their recent impressive performances Thunder received news from the league they they have been promoted to Division 1.
*In their away game with local rivals Swinton Lions the Under 7's THUNDER created a brilliant performance but despite dominating the match somehow didn't get the win they deserved. Both Aldo and Gideon scored wonder goals while Ronnie also got himself on the scoresheet while Zac provided some great assists. The scoreline went back and forth as Thunder unfortunately kept getting caught on the counter-attack. In the second half Beechy's defence through efforts from George, Jesse, Gideon and some great saves by Raurie tightened up. Ronnie looked as if he was going to win the game in the dying seconds but his thunderbolt strike resulted in the ball crashing against the crossbar. This was a much improved display by Thunder and everyone involved thoroughly enjoyed the game. Parents Player of the Match was Gideon and Team Coaches Player of the Match was Ronnie.
*Back in Salford and District League action the Under 15's TORNADOES had a Division 2 home game with Sale United Sabres. It was the visitors who took the lead but Beechy got back into the game when Jayden Hoye equalised for 1-1. The second half was a carbon copy of the first half as the Sabres regained the lead and Takunda Kandermiri firing home the Tornadoes second equaliser with five minutes to go. Both teams had chances to win the game in the closing stages but a 2-2 draw was a fair result.
*Playing away at De La Salle Reds the Under 17's HURRICANES somehow managed to lose this Bolton Bury and District League Section B game after holding a 4-0 lead. In the first half Beechy blew the opposition away with four great counter-attacking goals through Kane Wood, Luke Kennedy, Karo Ibodje and an own goal. But unfortunately the Tornadoes failed to show enough heart and desire in the second half and allowed their opponents to creep back and win the match 5-4.
*Beechy Under 9's THUNDER made the worst start possible in their Red Group away game against Salford Storm Tornadoes when they conceded the opening goal within seconds of the kick-off. Despite the setback Beechy put in a really strong first half performance and almost immediately Thunder were back on level terms when the ball was worked down the left and into the middle and Jude Bond looped it over the keeper and equalise. Archie Heighway took home the Player of the Match award, not only for his performance but his endless running and after robbing the ball off a Salford defender powered home Thunder's second goal. The hosts equalised again but Beechy were in the ascendancy with Harrison Spencer driving the team on from midfield and Chase Sixsmith superbly turned past an opponent before slotting the ball into the back of the net. Salford Storm got another equaliser via a great long range effort and this goal seemed to knock the wind out of Thunder's players and in a flat second half Beechy conceded two goals and suffered a defeat. Oscar Spencer thrived in a good cameo as a striker towards the end of the game.
