Beechfield Hurricanes U17s 6 v Boothstown Lions U17s 5
Bolton Bury and District League (Chairman's Cup)

In a cup game against Boothstown from a Division above we played with no expectations just belief in our own ability. We created opportunities and just didn't take them & before we knew it we were behind, lost the ball in the midfield third trying to overplay. The game was exhibiting a midfield battle that was exciting and testing our boys. Through pure determination and refusal to give up Beechy were level through Kane Wood. Before long a swivel and shot from top of the box from Luke Kennedy saw Beechy go into half time leading 2-1. 2nd half saw Beechy continue and from a Tanatswa Chirwa ball sent Karo clear to bury into the bottom corner. The opposition pulled one back but from a Danny Gregory throw in from the left, Kane Wood made a clever run, squared the ball and Enoch finished. Karo went though and completed his brace. The gem of goals was however to come, an indirect free kick saw Nahom take charge, clip it over the wall for Enoch to nod past the keeper. Unfortunately Beechy were then to invite unnecessary pressure on themselves by failing to manage the game. A cheap free kick given just outside the box from overplaying saw Boothstown score, and not long after they scored again. Beechy then conceded a penalty and keeper sent off and it was 6-5 and an unnecessarily nervous finish. Special mention goes to Mikey Munden for a polished performance at right back but MOTM would be shared between Tanatswa Chirwa for a polished performance in central defence and Kane Wood for perseverance in midfield
