Beechfield Utd U11 Tornadoes versus Boothstown U11 Hornets

Salford and Districts Junior League Yellow Group

Beechy started well today against Boothstown, and were on the front foot, with Harry Myddleton looking a threat on the left and and Freya Quinn having a great game both defensively and putting some great through balls forward on the right, but the goal illuded us. Boothstown grew into the game and always looked a threat themselves. They were awarded a dubious penalty for handball midway through the half but the striker crashed the attempt off the top of the bar to Beechys delight and it remained goalless. After a period of pressure Boothstown took the lead with a low effort which crept in at the far post, then just before half time a cruel blow when a Boothstown effort took a wicked deflection off the Beechy defender to wrongfoot keeper Ty Dobson who had no chance. Tornadoes two goals down at half time.

The 2nd half we continued to try to play football and were rewarded with a fantastic strike from Aidan Thompson which flew into the top corner from the edge of the box to reduce the arrears. We could not capitalise on this however, and Boothstown scored 2 scrappy goals from close range late on to win the game. We never gave up though and Grayson Evans and Mason Stockton came agonisingly close to score at the death.

Some good performances today, Ty Dobson was fantastic in goal, and came to our assistance on numerous occasions. Aidan Thompson's goal was a contender for goal of the season and Ralph Theaker had a magnificent game. Player of the Match however was Freya Quinn who was solid defensively and excellent on the ball all day, she was at the heart of Beechys best attacking moments particularly in the first half. Well done Freya.
