- U/11's Storm Match Report 1/3/2025
U11 Storm were looking to bounce back after 2 poor showings in the cup and the boys started off like a train against Baguley Athletic.
From the off the lads were on the front foot and it wasn’t long until we started knocking on the door for the opener. After seeing a few efforts go close Ismail Adetona drove out from the middle of the park, showing his lightning pace to beat his man and the finish was delightful into the bottom corner. Beechy continued to dominate the half but wayward finishing, an inspired keeper and some last ditch defending meant it started a close game. Beechy finally got what their pressure deserved after a mastic corner from Denholm Brooks found Ismail in the box he smashed the cross bar but Max Schofield reacted quickest to tuck home the rebound. Storm two goals up at half time.
We had a discussion at half time about being a little more clinical and the boys reacted. Again Beechy were on the front foot dominating the ball from the kick off and looking dangerous with every attack and it wasn’t long before Kobe Glass picked up the ball and drove for the box, beat his man and tucked the ball into the bottom corner. The next wasn’t long away, Denholm had produced some fantastic corners on the day and this one was majestic, right on top of the keeper who could only flap as it went straight into the far top corner. Beechy continued to press and Austin Pierce broke away from the defence on three occasions with some fanstastic work around half way beating his man and using his pace to get away but for some great goalkeeping he would’ve had a hat trick. Beechy did add to the score not long after though, another corner from Denholm breaking to Barkely Pope and he smashed it home from around the penalty spot. Untroubled at the back everyone wanted to get in the scoring action and the last goal of the game was probably the best, the ball was whipped in from the lady by Denholm, it broke to Jack Sinclair who struck well but produce a great save, the ball looped about 20 foot into the air towards the edge of the box and Joel Momoh volleyed home.
It was a fanstastic performance from the boys after a few disappointed displays. They played some fantastic football and scored some great goals.
Man of the Match was Ismail Adetona, a great all round display, scoring a fine goal but he bossed the midfield the whole game.
