Away to local rivals, Moorside, a side coming from a division above in the re-jig.

Tornados have started the new year with the direction that our football will be attacking, brave and aggressive (the positive meaning; dynamic, ambition and fearless) and that was exemplified in the second half today.

Tornados started well launching numerous attacks, winning the ball high up the pitch and Kayden and Oscar flying down the wing, forcing corners with Arlo delivering deadly set pieces, but the team struggling to find the composure to find the target.

Moorside weathered the Tornados storm and were finding space, firing at goal with strikes at will forcing save after save from Cormac backed up be heroic last ditch blocks from Leo and Ezra in defence. Moorside eventually finally found the target and quickly followed up with a second. With a risk of heads dropping, Tornados found their resilience by staying tight and digging in, ending the half in the ascendency, Ellis providing the energy in the centre of the park to turn defence into attack and Amir bringing assurance and stability and elevating those around him. Oscar’s brilliant strike just before half time nearly splitting the post in two being the highlight of the first half and Tornados hoped this would be a sign of things to come.

2-0 down away down to being too passive, it would have been easy for heads to drop.

Reminding the lads of our ethos at half time the improvement in the second half was phenomenal.

Going on the front foot and becoming more assured in defence, the team started to find the wings earlier and created excellent chances.

And that’s where the first goal came from, Arlo, taking up a false 9 position winning the ball off of the oppositions CM, popping it out to Oscar on the wing who whipped a dangerous low cross into the box towards Cormac attacking from the opposing wing, who battled the opposition leading to the ball popping out to Arlo on the edge of the box who elegantly swept the ball into the top corner.

Arlo again battled to nick the ball off of the opposition midflield, popped the ball out to the marauding winger Oscar who took a great first touch and hammered beyond the despairing keeping. 2-2.

Jayden has been working on his distribution in recent weeks and had the confidence to take a kick in in the RB position playing the perfect pass down the wing to Oscar who deployed an incredible Bergkamp vs Newcastle touch around the defender and whipped in another delightful low cross, just evading the attackers but all was not lost... Cormac offering something different on the wing, being difficult to get the ball off of, finding teammates in attacking positions as well as stopping the opposition throughout the half, sprinted to keep the ball in play, went on a mazy run, Brazilian chopped his opponent, turned to keep the ball in play on the byline and forced the defender to go through him winning a free kick in a dangerous position.

Cormac picked the ball up with one idea in mind and that was find the back of the net. With many a man between ball and goal Cormac guided a powerful and precise strike into the only half available slot, low at the front post. Smart and skilful. 3-2.

Turnaround complete. Or was it? Moorside went for it and levelled the score. 3-3. Nothing the impressive second half goalkeeper Ellis, whose saves and distribution were excellent, could do about that.

Tornados heads did not drop, taking back control of play. From the goal kick Ellis played a perfectly weighted pass into Jayden who took a great touch, looked up and expertly took the closing striker out of the game by finding Ralph in the middle of the park. The creativity king jinked past the closing midfielder and with two more closing him down split Moorside with a precise ball into Arlo who controlled the ball on the turn and deftly finished with his left foot into the bottom corner.

Quick thinking midfield maestro Ralph cut inside from a kick in and put the ball on a plate for Arlo who showed great strength and bought a lottery ticket striking the target, a shot the solid keeper fumbled into the back of the net. Some will say own goal. No way. The shot hit the target. You can’t win the lottery without what lads? 2 great assists for Ralph and a hattrick for Arlo. 5-3 Tornados.

Leo and Ezra back on in the second half to shore things up and leave no space in the midfield.

This was an awesome showing from the team and whilst Arlo and Cormac deservedly took home joint MOTM trophies and the team should be so so proud of themselves, I would like to call out some more star performers for impact to team and improvements made.

Amir - This guy elevates those around him, showed incredible awareness in and out of possession and brought steel and skill when he came on.

Jayden - has been focusing on assertiveness, control and finding his teammates and launched two of the most incredible attacks. John Stones? Rio Ferdinand? Depends if you’re red or blue.

Ralph - brave on the ball, tough and eager to turn things around in the second half. Showed wonderful awareness to find his teammates in great positions.

Oscar - stretched the opposition continuously and showed pace and great technique on delivery.

*BEECHFIELD UNITED TORNADOES U/8's v Stretford Victoria

Saturday 17th January 2026

Score: Tornadoes 3–5 Stretford
POTM: Sergio & Theo

First Half

The first match of the year began at a fast pace, with Gianluca making a good early save before Stretford scored twice.
Theo pulled one back with a well-taken goal, but Stretford added another to lead 3–1 at half time.
Zane made two strong blocks in defence, Sergio cleared well at the back and Theo produced a kick-away save and a confident catch.
Sergio also stepped up for a free kick, forcing a save after several attempts.
Passing play was a real positive, especially between Sergio, Eric and Gianluca.

Second Half

The Tornadoes showed great effort after the break, with Theo and Gianluca making important defensive blocks and Eric producing a save.
Theo scored again to give the team hope, but Stretford responded with two more goals. Zane made a key clearance and drove forward on a strong run, while Eric added the Tornadoes’ third goal just before the final whistle.

Overall, there was excellent passing and teamwork, particularly from Eric, Sergio and Gianluca and tireless, commanding efforts from Zane and Theo. Noah and Rocco also contributed well with solid clearances. The attitude and work rate were strong throughout and the boys left with a smile on their faces after a great well-matched game of football.

**In the Manchester FA Youth Cup the Under 13's TORNADOES booked their place in the Quarter-Finals of the competition following a 3-1 away win in the 3rd Round over Roach Dynamos. In a scrappy game due to the pitch and the weather the Tornadoes dominated possession throughout the tie. All the Beechy lads played brilliantly and Team Manager Ryan Pugh said he was very proud of the players who carried out the game plan well. Man of the Match was Rakeeb Razak who produced an excellent display in defence showing strength in the tackle while comfortable and composed on the ball. The fixture was switched to St Ambrose Barlow School and on the 4G Astroturf Pitch the ninety minutes produced an entertaining encounter. An own goal plus goals from Seth Carroll and Enoch Olague gave the Hurricanes a comfortable 3-1 lead at half time. In the second half Luke Kennedy fired Beechy 4-1 up then as the Hurricanes controlled the game Enoch Olague was on target again when he netted goal number five. But De La Salle produced a positive fightback and following two more goals the visitors forced Beechy to deal with some unwanted pressure. During a late attacking surge the Hurricanes responded and were rewarded after a second goal of the game for Luke Kennedy secured Beechy their 6-3 victory. The Hurricanes other squad members who played their part in the teams winning result were Ethan Mangwiro, Kane Wood, Michael Munden, Mason Gowenlock, Liam Woodward, Glenn Tepa, Aiden Lawton, Ausou Eltomseneen, Nahom Berhane, Karo Ibodje and Paul Connelly.

*Swinton U7's Sharks (5) v (7) BEECHFIELD UTD LIGHTNING U7's

Goals:
Jude 3 ⚽⚽⚽
Samuel 2 ⚽⚽
Alvin 2 ⚽⚽

Teamwork, Grit, and Goals from Start to Finish

The year finally gets off the mark with a fantastic victory for the boys. The starting line-up saw Harry in goal, William and Jaiden anchoring the defence, with Samuel and Alvin leading the attack.

The match began at a steady pace, with much of the play developing through midfield and chances appearing at both ends. The breakthrough came when Alvin produced a moment of quality to open the scoring with an excellent goal, putting Beechfield United ahead.

Swinton responded quickly, using the wing to create space and finishing well to level the score. The Beechy boys showed great character, kept pushing forward, and were rewarded again when Alvin struck for his second goal to restore the lead.

The game continued end to end, and Swinton equalised once more to make it 2–2. Soon after, a superb defensive recovery by Jaiden turned into attack — a forward pass found Jude, who finished calmly to put Beechfield back in front.

Right at the end of the first half, Swinton took advantage of a foul and a series of sharp passes to score again, sending both teams into the break locked at 3–3.

The second half started with much higher intensity from Beechfield United. Within minutes, Jude found the net again, followed shortly by a well-taken goal from Samuel, pushing the score to 5–3.

The match remained a thrilling contest. Swinton pulled one goal back, but Beechfield answered with a superb team move from a corner — Samuel delivered to Alvin, Alvin played it into Jude, and Jude finished brilliantly to complete his hat-trick.

Despite several good chances from Samuel that just wouldn’t go in, Swinton capitalised on another opportunity to make it 6–5, setting up a tense finish. The game was finally sealed with a stunning free kick from Samuel, struck perfectly to make it 7–5 and confirm a well-earned victory.

Overall, it was an excellent performance: everyone worked hard, defended together, passed the ball well, and communicated brilliantly throughout the match.

🏅 Man of the Match

Choosing one was extremely difficult as everyone played their part:

Harry was focused and alert for the entire game.
William was solid and reliable in defence, working tirelessly.
Samuel scored twice and played a huge role in building attacking moves.
Alvin was outstanding with two goals, great ball control, and key assists.
Jude always in the right position, contributing in defence and attack getting 3 goals.
However, today’s trophy goes to Jaiden, who was phenomenal in defence — perfectly timed challenges, brave, and fearless, even against bigger opponents.

👨‍👩‍👦 Parent Player of the Match

Parents agreed that the award could easily go to Jude, who had an outstanding game: always in the right position, contributing in defence and attack, and delivering crucial goals when the team needed them most.

*BEECHFIELD UNITED STORM U9's v Salford Storm U9's

⚽️
Imad x3
Nathan x3
Jose x1
James x1

🅰️
Imad x3
Nathan x2
Josh x1
Jose x1
James x1

Brilliant performance from Storm who adapted excellently and produced one of the best games of the season.

Alfie and Vince rotating in goal, Yusha, George and Reggie at the back with Josh, Nathan, Jacob in midfield; Jose, James & Imad rotating on the wings.

Game started quickly for Storm who asserted dominance at the start - Reggie straight into the battles at the back stopping 3 attacks immediately, robustly handling their strikers stopping any attacks.

Storm urged to play direct had their first goal shifted from Reggie to Josh, playing it through to Imad who on the edge of the area played into Nathan who smashed it in first time. Jacob playing deep took the ball on and stung the goal keepers hands.

Beechy Storm continued pushing and it was again Imad on the right, taking on his man, sliding to Nathan on the edge of the box who again finished brilliantly.

Storm had a bit of a lull and some lax defending started to let Salford back in - Alfie on the back of a MOTM performance made a couple of brilliant saves from a free kick and from distance. Vincent who jumped in net had a couple of shot destined for the net saved excellently and defence was needed where George stepped up; 3 v 1 and won the ball solidly, holding the ball for his defence to get back in place.

Urging Storm to get back to playing it simple - Josh took the ball at the back and laced it through to Imad who with open ground bared down on goal, picked his moment and placed past the keeper.

James had a number of shots going high and wide - though some brilliant combinations with Reggie playing down the left to Jose who flicked the ball first time curling to James in the box who slammed over. It was again Jose who powered down the left, squeezed the ball in the last moment to James who powered home from close range.

More of the same required in the second half and storm matched with another brilliant half. With Imad feeding through Nathan in the first half the roles were reversed - Nathan won the ball high on the right, crossed to Imad who shifted left, right and slapped the ball into the back of the net.

Alfie back in net determined to keep a clean sheet made the save of the game - Salford running through on a 1v1 made a fantastic save with his feet to deflect the ball wide when it looked certain goal. Yusha also grew into the game making an important challenge with Salford on the attack.

Storm weathered the attacks and it was the lethal combination of Nathan & Imad again; committing defenders on the right, Imad played across to Nathan who slammed the ball home for his hattrick.

With Salford pouring forward Nathan dropped into a quarter back position; George and Yusha blocking all manner of shots and Nathan picking up; playing long through to Imad who raced through and powered past for his own hat trick.

Further opportunities as both Jacob and Imad had chances of their own creation, skipping past 3 players each though shots unfortunately going wide.

A game of partnerships and combinations was completed as some fabulous defensive work by Vince, Reggie and Josh led to the ball finishing its way to James up the field took the ball, powered past one and played through for Jose who scampered down the middle - chasing defenders - pulled to the right and finished into the bottom corner expertly.

Possibly the best performance of the season the Vincent & Alfie were faultless today & deserved the clean sheet with as every lad outfield putting in a momentous effort, did the roles asked from them and played brilliantly as a team.

MOTM:
Mentioned a game of partnerships and we saw that from Reggie / Yusha / George at the back, James and Jose when on though the shared MOTM between both *Nathan* and *Imad* who stood out. Lethal partnership which led to 6 goals & 5 assists between them gave off Lampard / Drogba vibes today.

Players Player:
*Jacob* - seems to improve every game, heart beat in the middle and it was his discipline dropping into a defensive mid position allowing Nathan forward which was instrumental. Deserved a goal, always looking for a pass and battled well defensively.
