A cup game against another new opponent today in Stretford Victoria for the Thunder boys. Thunder began with a strong start taking the game to Stretford with attacking runs from Finley and Elliott. Angelo found Che who was unlucky not to get an early goal for Thunder with a long range shot saved by the Stretford keeper. Stretford against the run of play managed to sneak into the lead after a corner unfortunately bounced off Bobby's gloves and into the Thunder net. Thunder still kept on the front foot and pressed Stretford but were caught out at the back from a Stretford counter attack. The introduction of José was causing problems for Stretford and a resulting corner lead to Thunder's first goal expertly fired in by Finley from the corner flag ⚡. Stretford managed to find a third just before half time after a carbon copy of their second goal with Thunder being caught out at the back. Into the second half and Ralph started to make a menace of himself down the flanks showing his quick feet and feeding José with a lovely pass who finished nicely for Thunder's second.
Gio came into the game and made his presence known with strong tackling and excellent defensive clearances. Unfortunately for thunder Stretford managed to hit two successive goals with some long range strikes.
Finley not happy with scoring one from the corner flag decided to do it again with another incredible curled in cross that flew in past the helpless Stretford keeper. Stretford managed to get their sixth not long after and the game was back and forth with José finding his second from another good passage of play from Angelo in midfield. José nearly got his hat-trick after another good pass through the centre from Angelo leading to José with a one on one but the Stretford keeper made a great save. Stretford finished the game with a seventh goal on the last whistle with an unchallenged shot from the edge of box. A competitive game for the boy's today one that could of easily swung in our favour with a few missed chances and gifts for Stretford in the final third but overall the lads put in a solid performance.
Man of the Match - Ralph - Impressive feet on the flanks and an assist which was great to see something the lads have been working on in training.
