Parkwyddn Hawks versus Beechfield United U/11's Storm
U11 Storm were away to Parkwyddn. We were expecting a tough game after narrowly beating them earlier in the season and that proved to be the case. Beechy were strong from the off, trying to put together a passing game on what was a shocking pitch. From the off we were creating chances and after going close a few times the ball broke in midfield to Denholm Brooks who played a sublime ball through to Barkley Pope who flicked the ball passed the keeper with the outside of his foot. It was thoroughly deserved on balance of play. The boys continued to play on the front foot with Parkwyddn not creating a great deal but always looking dangerous on the break but Beechy remained a goal up going into half time.
Into the second half and Beechy were again the more positive team, trying to keep their passing game going and creating some good chances which the inspired Parkwyddn keeper managed to keep out. Better finishing was needed and we got our breakthrough when Harvey King broke down the left and put in a lovely cross for Joel Momoh who smashed home with his left foot. Again on balance Beechy deserved it after creating the better chances and that theme continued into thy dying minutes when the ref game a very dubious penalty after the ball hitting a Beechy hand after being smashed at the kid from a yard away. Parkwyddn tucked way the chance which meant a nervy last 5 mins for the coaches, not these boys though, they kept the ball well limiting Parkwyddn to lumping the ball into the box which was defended well but a solid back three and our keeper Jay who despite having little to do in the game commanded his box and got us moving forward with some great distribution.
Man of the Match was Joel Momoh a top modified performance topped off with a wonderful goal.
