Salford Storm U11 Tornadoes versus Beechfield Utd U11 Tornadoes
Salford and Districts Junior League Yellow Group
We played Salford Storm for the first time this season knowing it would be a close game, in five games last season there was never more than a goal in it either way.
Having been so good defensively the last few weeks we were uncharacteristically poor at the back in the early stages today and found ourselves three goals down midway through the first half. Our tackling wasn't good enough in the opening minutes and Salford waltzed through on numerous occasions to burst into a deserved lead. We then started to attack and looked dangerous every time we went forward. Grayson Evans pulled one back after some nice play on the left, and shortly after Harry Myddleton scored with a fine effort from the edge of the box to reduce the arrears further just before half time. Beechy were on the front foot and in truth didn't want to see the half time whistle.
In the 2nd half we knew we had to be better defensively and we were, but also weren't as good in an attacking sense. Grayson Evans, Dawood Fakeeh and Jayden Lowe all burst forward and had chances but we couldn't find that vital goal. Salford scored a fourth with virtually the last kick of the game. Salford just about deserved the win. We simply left ourselves too much to do today after the bad start but the team should be proud that they never gave up after going three down.
Player of the Match today was Alex McGrory, who who has put in some great performances in recent weeks and we looked more solid at the back today when he was moved into defence today after Salford's 3rd goal. He was solid in the tackle and nothing got past him defensively today. Well done Alex.
