- Junior Section Match Details 5th April 2025
A Very Good Performance by Beechy Under 11's Lightning against Strike FC in the Manchester Youth Super League didn't get the result the team deserved.
*The first half of the Under 11's LIGHTNING 9v9 game with Strike FC began well for Beechy who took control after settling into their stride thanks to their work rate and good passages of play. Eshan Shanahan was soon getting released on runs down the right wing and Oliver Simpson, Kayson Gregg and Finley Thompson-Hale linked-up via strong midfield options. Strike FC were fortunate to take the lead when a secure Beechy defence was breached for the first time, surprising keeper James Hardman who had been very comfortable up to that point. Leo Law and Crewe Reeves were mopping up everything at the back while forwards Junior Davies and Henry Dunn kept the pressure on the Strike defenders. The introduction of Charlie Drury to bolster the midfield before the break brought immediate success when Charlie latched onto the ball and finished in style for Lightning's equaliser. Both Michael Schofield and Matteo La Rana joined the action and they added some much need energy as Beechy produced a strong finish to the first half. The second half produced a drop in intensity but Lightning still had a lions share of the chances but an unfortunate attempt to clear the ball gave Strike FC a shock second goal against the run of play. Beechy pushed hard but were unlucky to be denied the equaliser from some great corners by Kayson and Henry the latter producing a fine corner that was met by Leo Law who's header on target was saved by the Strike keeper. Lightning might have lost the game but both Beechy coaches and the players parents were proud of the teams performance.
*At home to Urmston Town Dragons the Under 8's TORNADOES secured another victory in the Salford and Districts Junior League. In this Yellow Group game Beechy created some grat football and were denied a lot more goals by the outstanding Dragons goalkeeper. Aldo McFarlane, Brayden Gilligan and Ronnie Sangster scored the goals for the highly impressive Tornadoes who have suffered just one defeat in their last ten games.
*Beechy Under 9's STORM battled hard from the first whistle in their Yellow Group away game against an equally determined Winton Wanderers Ravens team. Play was end to end but there were no real chances until the Winton striker found himself unmarked in the box and after a few lucky deflections he slotted the ball home to give the hosts the lead. Storm's striker and Man of the Match Lucas Jones worked hard and had a few speculative long-range efforts but never really troubled the Winton keeper. Winger Charlie Schofield was a constant threat and key defender Corey Davies was a rock at the back. Beechy played some great pass and move football throughout the game but unfortunately couldn't find the breakthrough goal they needed to force at least a draw.
*In pefect conditions for football Beechy Under 10's STORM who were at home against Parkwyddn Predators re-discovered the winning formula. For this Salford and Districts Junior League Red Group fixture Beechy's squad was Seth Barber, Bobby Lowe, Oscar Pugh, Harry Chambers, Jacob Foster, Isaac Hargreaves and George Savage. The goals for Storm came via Bobby, Seth and Oscar while Bobby, Harry and Isaac supplied the assists.
*The Under 10's THUNDER had only six players on duty for their game with Sapere River FC. The other six squad players were unavailable for this Manchester Youth Super League fixture and espite the handicap the Beechy boys still managed to produce an excellent all-round performance. Thunder lost for the first time in seven games but a draw would have been a fairer result. Sapere River had seven players on the pitch throughout the match but having one player less failed to deter Beechy who worked their socks off on a hot sunny day while Jack Steele who took a bump on the head soldiered on bravely. There were great goals from Sonny Phillips and Deo WaiWai plus great last ditch tackles by Logan moore and brilliant 1v1 saves from keeper Michael Omeregie. Man of the Match went to Edan McHugh who covered every blade of grass plus he nicked an important first goal. The Beechy Boys did themselves proud and were in a tight game until the last few minutes when tiredness kicked in. The Sapere River coach said it was the toughest game his team had been involved in all season as he praised Thunder's overall performance.
*There was a fourth straight win for the Under 12's TORNADOES (9v9) who played RS JFC Cyclones in the Plate Competition. In this quarter-final tie Beechy produced anther dominant display and scored eight quality goals that secured an 8-1 victory. Luke Bennett netted a hat-trick, Archie Charles fired home two goals and there was a goal apiece for Lucio Riva, Max Blood and Lynott Cassidy. Supplying the assists for the goals were Zack MacKinnon, Kian Murphy, Harvey Pugh, Daniel Badewa, Max and Lucio.
*It was certainly a game of two halves when Beechy Under 9's THUNDER took on Old Trafford Diamonds away on Saturday morning and the first half was predominatly Beechy attacking. Antonio Embalo was dazzling with skill at wing back and Thunder created a lot of chances but some scrambled clearances, good saves and those missed chances limited Beechy to a one goal lead at half time after Chase Sixsmith was on target. Into the second half and Old Trafford equalised with a superb strike and the game then became end to end. Thunder were unlucky not to be awarded a penalty after Chase was clearly fouled in the area and this seemed to rattle the team who lost their shape and they conceded three late goals. Player of the Match was shared by two players who stood strong in a tough second half period. Goalkeeper George Kelly made some terrific saves and Harrison Spencer was all over the pitch trying to make things happen.
*Another solid performance in the Salford and Districts Junior League from the Under 8's STORM was rewarded with an emphatic victory. Beechy were at home against Stretford Victoria Albion in the Red Group and their brilliant teamwork was the key to the Boys latest success. The Man of the Match award was shared between Alfie and Vincent.who contributed outfield with assists and fantastic sportsmanship. Imad, Henry, Freddy, George and Vincent were on target for Storm in this mini-soccer game.
