The 2020/2021 season officially kicked-off on Saturday 12th September and twenty two BUFC teams were affiliated with Manchester Football Association.
Beechfield United registered teams in the Salford and District League, Bolton Bury and District League, North Bury Junior League, Manchester Football League, Manchester Saturday Morning League, Greater Manchester Womens League.
List of teams are: U/8's STORM, U/8's TORNADOES, U/9's STORM, U/10's STORM, U/11's TORNADOES, U/12's HURRICANES, U/11's LIGHTNING, U/13's HURRICANES, U/13's STORM, U/13's TORNADOES, U/14's LIGHTNING, U/14's TYPHOON, U/15's STORM, U/15's TORNADOES, U/16's STORM, U/16's THUNDER, U/17's TORNADOES, 1st TEAM, A TEAM, SAT MORN TEAM, THE ACES, BEECHY LADIES.
There were four games on the opening day of the season and the only team who made a winning start were Beechy Under 15's Storm. Away to Swinton Lions in the Bolton Bury and District League Storm had a few new players on view and following a decent overall display won this Section C away game 3-0. On target with the goals were Jonny Walsh, Abraham Abiola Joel and Leo Barrett. (12/9/2020)
Also in the Bolton Bury and District League the Under 17's Tornadoes played Moorside Rangers Blue and didn't deserve to suffer a 4-3 defeat. In Section C Beechy looked the better team despite some slack defending and making an impressive debut for Beechy was Jacob Jeffrey who scored two goals. Jake Rhodes-Clarke got the Tornadoes other goal and voted Best Player was keeper Lucas Allen. (12/9/2020)
The Under 14's Lightning hit double figures in their first Division 2 fixture of the new season in the Salford and Districts League. At Brookhouse Playing Fields Beechy were in action against Deans Panthers and produced a great all-round display. The goals were scored via Cody Brady (6) David Olidoy, Zane Davies, Daniel Williams, Cherif Badjie and Charlie Harris. (19/9/2020)
Moving up from mini-soccer to 9v9 football were the Under 11's Tornadoes and they made the short journey for their Blue Group away game at Monton Sports. The Tornadoes faced some early pressure but the defence was well marshalled by George Wadeson and Beechy took the lead thanks to Oscar Mather who executed a terrific free kick. In the second half the Tornadoes lost their shape and energy and Monton Sports managed to find an equalising goal. Goalkeeper Jack Lee was named Beechy's Man of the Match. (19/9/2020)
In their Division 2 away game with Barr Hill Aces the Under 12's Lightning boys made a fast start in this 9v9 encounter. Despite putting their opponents under pressure Beechy conceded the opening goal but they soon found fresh impetus and playing some attractive football created some good chances. Eventually in the second half Lightning got a deserved equaliser when Aditya Jain added the finish following a pinpoint pass from Ethan Harris. (26/9/2020)
At home to FC Bridgewater in the Red Group the Under 8's Storm lost the match by the odd goal in five. Both teams contributed to a very entertaining game of mini-soccer and Harry Wallis was voted Beechy's Man of the Match for his high energy performance in both defence and midfield. (26/9/2020)
After wasting chances galore in the Division 4 home game against Heyside Reserves the Senior A Team found themselves 2-0 down but Beechy produced a scintillating second half display and cruised to an 8-2 victory. Enjoying almost 90% possession United created some brilliant attacking football and had chances to hit double figures. On target were Callum Davies (4) Deren Saunders, Zar Jordan, Kurtis Lee and Josh Egan. (26/9/2020)
Dominating the majority of their Bolon Bury and district League Section C home game with Prestwich FC the Under 17's Tornadoes secured the three points following a 5-3 victory. The goals came courtesy of Jacob Jeffrey (hat-trick) Jack Broadie and Jake Rhodes and named the Tornadoes Best Player was Dominic Green. (3/10/2020)
Making their debut in the Bolton Bury and District League were the Under 15's Tornadoes and in tough conditions made a winning start when they beat oxford Grove 9-5. In Section D Beechy went a goal down but they responded with every player giving 100% commitment and naming a Man of the Match was a difficult choice but it finally went to Harry Officer who made an impressive debut with a goal. Ryan Lewis was also on target for the Tornadoes but creating the highlight of the game was Bradley Oliver who scored an unbelievable seven goals. (3/10/2020)
Beechy Ladies who disbanded at the end of the 2017/2018 season were re-established and re-joined the Greater Manchester Womens League. Their opening Division 2 match of the season was away against AFC Bolton Ladies and in an entertaining encounter Beechy had to work hard before they could celebrate a narrow 4-3 victory. Crystal Barker (2) Aimee Greenwood and Becky Topping got the all important goals and named Player of the Match was Stacy Partridge. (4/10/2020)
There was another top-quality display from Beechy Under 8's Tornadoes who were away to Flixton Junior Cobras. The teams who shared eight goals produced an exciting end to end contest and the Tornadoes were praised for their total commitment in this Yellow Group game. Harvey Pugh was in great goal scoring form via a hat-trick and Kai Barker also contributed when he netted Beechy's other goal. (10/10/2020)
United's new open age team The Aces played their first game of the season in the Manchester Saturday Morning League when they met New Moston Rangers at home. Straight from the kick-off the visitors dictated the pace of this Division 2 game and the Aces found it difficult to get a foothold in the contest. In the first half Beechy were limited to just a few chances and Matty Styles was a key figure in an overworked back four. The Aces played with more self belief in the second period and Jonathan Royle, Nathan Haslam and Joe Croft went closet to scoring a consolation goal. New Moston Rangers were worthy 4-0 winners but they were denied further goals by United keeper and Man of the Match Lloyd Grant who was outstanding throughout. (10/10/2020)
Back in action following a three week lay off the Under 16's Storm produced a superb all-round display in the away game against Denton Youth Blue. In the North Bury Junior League's Premiership Yellow Division the Storm fully deserved their 9-4 victory. Man of the Match Adam Rothwell (2) Dylan Roberts (hat-trick) Prince Idusuyi (2) Joe Newton and Archie Cooper were on target with the goals. (17/10/2020)
Some brilliant football in the home game with Astley Bridge Dynamoes by the Under 15's Tornadoes went unrewarded. Beechy created enough chances to secure a convincing win but somehow they lost this Section D fixture 2-1. Jake Curry who scored the Tornadoes consolation goal was also voted Man of the Match. At Beech Farm the Under 8's Storm played Swinton Lions in the Blue Group. Following an evenly balanced first half Beechy stepped up a gear and despite an heroic display by the Swinton Lions keeper Storm were able to secure a comfortable victory. (17/10/2020)
Involved in a top of the table clash with unbeaten outfit De La Salle Reds were Beechy Under 12's Hurricanes (9v9) who faced a tough thirty minutes each way. De La Salle took the lead but the Hurricanes almost got back level when a fierce drive by Henry Errington was well saved and from the rebound Henry's second attempt hit the post. Working hard to stay in the game the Hurricanes found their opponents a tough nut to crack and De La Salle had raced into a 3-0 lead at the break. The second half produced a more even contest and the Hurricanes continued to carve out chances with shots by Oliver Hall, Alfie Rostron and Thomas Robinson just missing the target. De La Salle won the match 5-0 but despite conceding five goals Beechy's Man of the Match was goalkeeper Oliver Dalton-Bunker. (24/10/2020)
Now registered in the Bolton Bury and District League Beechy Under 14's Typhoon hosted Crompton Whites for their first Section D match of the season. Due to a lack of confidence and composure Beechy were 3-0 down with only a few minutes left to play but Typhoon produced a dynamic fightback reducing the arrears to 3-2. Jamie Withington was on target with both goals and following an all energy midfield performance Sam Henderson received the Man of the Match award. (24/10/2020)
At Duncan Matheson Playing Fields the Under 11's Tornadoes (9v9) played the better football and the vast majority of the chances in this away game against against Swinton Tigers. In the Blue Group Logan McFeely opened the scoring but the Tigers equalised then after some poor defending by Beechy the hosts grabbed the lead. A swift counter-attack resulted in Stewart Kay getting the Tornadoes back on level terms though Swinton Tigers regained the lead when the ball cannoned into the net off the crossbar. Stewart Kay made sure the Tornadoes earned a valid draw with Beechy's third goal and this action packed game remined highly entertaining all the way to the final whistle. Joshua Beddows was Man of the Match and there was an impressive performance from Bailey Breeze. (24/10/2020)
The Under 16's Thunder shared the honours following a friendly match with Tiki Taka Xavis a team from the Bolton Bury and District League. At Salford Sports Village it was 4-4 after eighty minutes and creating the highlight of the contest was Prince Idusuyi who netted all Thunder's goals. (31/10/2020)
For the second time in seven days Beechfield United Aces were in action against Hewlett FC who won the previous fixture 3-2. But thanks to a solid all-round performance in this Division 2 home game the Aces gained revenge courtesy of a 6-1 victory. Joe Croft (2) Harry Halsey, Jordan Walters, Daniel Gadsby and Nathan Haslam scored the goals. (31/10/2020)
A convincing 8-0 home win over Horwich Wrens in the Greater Manchester Womens League guaranteed that Beechy Ladies remained as leaders of the Division 2 table. The visitors rarely threatened to cause an upset and enjoying a greater share of the ball Beechy's victory was never in doubt. Goalscorers were Nicola Campion (hat-trick) Becky Topping (2) Mia Pemberton (2) and Player of the Match Stacy Partridge. There were first-class performances from Shauna Smith and Danielle Farrand (1/11/2020)
As per the FA's Guidelines Grassroots Football resumed following the four week lockdown but the weather intervened forcing the postponement of several games in the Junior Section.
In their Division 1 home game with neighbours Moorside Rangers the Under 12's Hurricanes (9v9) were the better team on the day but were on the wrong end of a 4-3 score line. Beechy who deserved at least a draw scored goals via Owen Hogben, Alfie Rostron and Henry Errington. (5/12/2020)
De La Salle Rangers were the Under 10's Storm opponents in the Red Group when Beechy were back in action in the SDJFL. Roman Sandaji (Hat-trick) and Harry Wallis who netted twice secured Storm a convincing victory at Beech Farm Playing Fields. Callum Norris was named Man of the Match while goalkeeper Reuben Wardle made several top-class saves when De La Salle produced their best period of play in the second half. (5/12/2020)
The SDJFL Under 14's Division 2 fixture Astley and Tyldesley Titans versus Beechy Lightning included thirteen goals. Cody Brady (4) Daniel Williams and Man of the Match Jake Barrington were on target for Lightning who suffered a 7-6 defeat. (5/12/2020)
In the Bolton Bury and District League the Under 13's Hurricanes returned to winning ways following their Section D away game at FC Bridgewater Jaguars. Thanks to goals from Juan Idicula (2) Kane Wood (20 Ethan Mangwiro and Nicholas Brito-Walmsley the Hurricanes collected the three points courtesy of a 6-4 victory. (12/12/2020)
The Under 9's Red Group away game went head despite the wet weather and a poor pitch and after five weeks of inactivity Beechy made a slow start against opponents AFC Urmston Meadowside who took a two goal lead. Jacob Wood, Aiden Gradwell and Brody Burns backed up superbly by goalkeeper Sophie Price produced some brilliant defending and both Daniel Wharton and Harrison church worked tirelessly in midfield. Urmston Meadowside added a few more goals but Beechy were rewarded with the two best goals of the game both netted by Oliver Cooper. Voted Best Player was Aiden Gradwell. (12/12/2020)
Beechy Ladies earned themselves a pre-Christmas bonus when they beat Curzon Ashton 7-0. With home advantage Beechy dominated this Greater Manchester Womens League Division 2 fixture throughout and kept their place at the top of the table. Nicola Campion (2) Becky Topping, Sophie Addison Sarah Jane-Hobson, Aimee Greenwood and Player of the Match Crystal Barker got the goals. (20/12/2020)
On Monday 4th January 2021 The Prime Minister announced another national lockdown so there was no Grassroots Football for three months. The badly disrupted season finally resumed on Saturday 3rd April and was extended until the end of June. Making the headlines in the Salford and Districts League on 3/4/2021 were Beechy Under 13's Storm. With only ten players available Storm opened the scoring in their away game with Winton Wanderers through Andrew Ackernley but Winton took control of this Division 1 game and led 6-1 at half time. Producing a dynamic second half comeback United created some brilliant attacking football and goals from Joshua Kilfoyle (2) Michael Walsh, Oliver Cowley and Andrew Ackernley earned the Beechy boys a 6-6 draw.
In the Blue Group home game against Parkwyddn Predators Stewart Kay (hat-trick) was on target for the Under 11's Tornadoes (9v9) who were in action for the first time since October 2020. There were great individual performances from Oscar Mather, Reece Smith, Logan McFeely and Man of the Match George Wadeson but unfortunately the Tornadoes lost the match. (3/4/2021)
Beechy Under 12's Lightning (9v9) also met a Parkwyddn Predators outfit and were the better team for much of the first half. But while Beechy continued to waste numerous chances Parkwyddn took theirs and were winners of this Division 3 encounter. Ben Lawrie, Eesa Afzal, Matty Cox and Rafa Perez-Rios were Lightning's stand out players. (3/4/2021)
The Saturday Morning Senior team finally got their Division 1 campaign underway. Following a tough ninety minutes Beechy celebrated a 4-2 away win over Manchester Celtic. Goals by Max Leonard (2) Anthony Wallis and Issiaka Saba gave United a comfortable four goal lead but the hosts took advatage of some slack Beechy defending when they reduced the arrrears late in the game. Beechy Under 8's Tornadoes were back in action in the SDJFL with an away game against Salford Storm Tornadoes. In the Blue Group Beechy didn't deserve to lose a thrilling contest after a superb all-round display. Harvey Pugh was named Man of the Match and on target with goals for Beechy were Daniel Badewa and Kai Barker. (10/4/2021)
Away to Tiki Taka United the Under 13's Hurricanes made a slow start in this BBDFL Section D fixture and at the final whistle were on the wrong end of a 4-3 scoreline. Hurricanes goalkeeper Alfie Gridlestone was an automatic choice for Man of the match after his outstanding performance. Goals for Beechy came via Nicholas Britto-Walmsley (2) and Kane Wood. Beechy Under 16's Thunder earned themselves an overdue victory following their home game with Radcliffe Borough Bulls. In the North Bury Junior League Max Chidgey opened the scoring and it was a mystery why Beechy weren't four or five goals up rather than sharing a 2-2 scoreline at half time. Thunder stepped up a gear after the break and though the visitors added a third goal Beechy replied with another four goals and win this Division 1 game 6-3. Also on target for Thunder were Prince Idusuyi (hat-trick) and Samuel Oludoyi who scored two great goals. (17/4/2021)
A much improved performance by the Under 14's Lightning secured a 7-0 home win over Winton Wanderers Vipers. This Salford and Districts League Division 2 match produced an evenly balance first half and Beechy led 1-0 at the break. Producing a solid all-round performance in their Red Group away game at FC Bridgewater were Beechy Under 10's Storm. Throughout the game Storm were guilty of wasting numerous gilt edged chances and suffered a 4-2 defeat. Man of the Match Roman Sandaji and Harry Wallis scored the goals. (24/4/2021)
In the Manchester Football League Open Trophy United's Senior A Team found themselves a goal down in the away tie with Bolton County but following a stunning second display Beechy secured an emphatic 6-1 victory. Highlight of the game was a four goal salvo by Man of the Match Callum Davies while Keenan Switzer and Zach Booth were also on target with a goal apiece. (24/4/2021)
Joe Croft, Harry Halsey, Danny Regan and Nathan Haslam got the goals for Beechy Aces who re-discovered the winning formula in the Manchester Saturday Morning League. In Division 2 the Aces were away against Manchester Wanderers and retained fifth place in the league table thanks to a 4-1 victory. (24/4/2021)
At Salford Sports Village the Under 16's Thunder met Chadderton Park in North Bury Junior League's Green Cup Competition. Beechy had a strong line-up on view and deservedly took the lead via Reiss Miller but Chadderton who always looked dangerous from set-pieces equalised. Prince Idusuyi put Thunder back in front heading home a corner taken by Dominic Lawton but the visitors got back level again. In the final twenty minutes Beechy wasted more chances before an own goal plus an easy finish by Samuel Olduoyi guaranteed Thunder a 4-2 win. Thunder's Star Player was centre back Lee Sylvester who was making his debut. (1/5/2021)
Following their third successive Division 2 away game Beechy Aces earned themselves three deserved points via 2-1 away win over Fielden Park. Leading 1-0 at half time the Aces who had a bit more quality secured the victory with goals from Matthew Connelly and Harry Halsay. Man of the Match for Beechy was Joel Healey. (1/5/2021)
In their away game with AFC Monton Ninjas the Under 12's Storm went a goal down and though Connor O'Sullivan equalised AFC Monton regained the lead before half time. After the break Storm increased the pressure on their opponents and with two minutes remaining were rewarded when Nathan Kay scored to earn Beechy a draw. Callum Norris received the Man of the Match award. (1/5/2021)
United's Manchester Saturday Morning League Open Age team needed to win their Division 1 home game with Heston FC to maintain their title challenge. Following an unexpected away defeat seven days earlier Beechy bounced back and secured the three points with a 5-2 victory over Heston. Max Leonard (Hat-Trick) Wes Pierce and Gary Wallis fired home the goals. (1/5/2021)
The Under 14's Typhoon threw away a 2-0 lead in their Bolton Bury and District Junior League Section D away game with Culcheth Athletic. Superb play by Daniel Hesketh set-up both Beechy goals scored by Reece James and Man of the Match Ronan Mullen but the hosts reduced the arrears before half time. As they continued to use the long ball tactic in the second half Culcheth added two more goals and eventually won the game 3-2. (8/5/2021)
Also in the BBDJFL the Under 15's Storm lost their Section C away game at Bolton Lads Club 4-1. On a 3G Astroturf Pitch Beechy made a positive start but after wasting a few chances found themselves two goals down at the break. Lads Club went 3-0 up before Storm's Player of the Match Jude Bedforth scored Beechy's consolation goal via a header. Storm played some superb football especially in the second half but they conceded a fourth goal late in the game. (8/5/2021)
Man of the Match Dylan Roberts (4) Adam Rothwell (2) Harry Worsley and Charlie Molloy were on target for Beechy Under 16's Storm who beat Kersal FC 8-2 in a midweek fixture. Producing their best performance of the season in the North Bury Junior League Storm dominated this Premiership Yellow Division game throughout. (11/5/2021)
At home against Blackrod AFC in Section C the Under 17's Tornadoes wasted the chance to secure a convincing victory. Goals by Max O'Brien, Jacob Jeffrey, Harrison Hughes and Jack Broadie put Beechy 4-1 up but Blackrod fought back to force a 4-4 draw. Goalkeeper Lucas Allen was named the Tornadoes Man of the Match. Beechy Under 8's Tornadoes met Flixton Cobras at Beech Farm and this Salford and Districts League Blue Group game was a real end to end thriller. Every Beechy player contributed to a very good all-round performance that included some excellent football and goals for M-O-M Kai Barker, Harvey Pugh and Archie Charles. (15/5/2021)
Following a 5-2 home win over Crompton Blue the Under 16's Thunder booked their place in the semi-final of the Green Cup. In the North Bury Junior League Thunder produced a solid all-round team performance on the Astroturf Pitch at Salford Sports Village. Max Chidgey (Hat-Trick) Dominic Lawton and Harvey Walker who shared the Man of the Match award with Max scored the goals. (22/5/2021)
For the second time in seven days the Under 14's Lightning met Swinton Cobras. Beechy won the previous Division 2 fixture but with no substitutes available Lightning struggled especially in the second half and suffered a 5-2 defeat. Consoaltion goals for Beechy came via Cherif Badjie and Cody Brady. (22/5/2021)
There was a setback for Beechy's Saturday Morning Senior Team as they chased Division 1 honours. United were at home to title favourites AFC Middleton but despite creating a quality attacking performance were guilty of some poor defending and ended up on the wrong end of a 5-4 scoreline. Ace marksman Max Leonard with a hat trick and Wes Pierce got the goals. (29/5/2021)
On a small,sloping and uncut pitch the Under 14's Typhoon were rewarded for a great team display with a 3-0 away win over Astley Bridge Wanderers. Throughout this Bolton Bury and District League Section D game Beechy were well disciplined and fully deserved the victory thanks to goals from Will Bentham (2) and Jamie Withington. Playing in an unfamiliar role at centre back Reece James was named Man of the Match. (29/5/2021)
The Under 15's Storm played their last game of the 2020/2021 season at home against Swinton Tigers who won this Bolton Bury and District League Section B fixture 1-0 with a goal in the 70th minute. Harrison Davies was Man of the Match while Ben Delaney and Harry Patterson had two of Storm's best chances in the game to earn Beechy at least a draw. (29/5/2021)
At Beech Farm the Under 8's Tornadoes versus Salford Storm fixture went ahead as a 4v4 game due to a shortage of players for both teams. The Tornadoes lost the game and after a low-key first half display produced a much improved second period. Beechy's Star Player was Tyler Ackernley. (5/6/2021)
In action on Sunday morning were Beechy Under 14's Typhoon who had a Section B home game with Astley Bridge Wanderers. Typhoon secured a 3-0 win with all the goals coming in the first half from Jamie Withington (penalty) Will Bentham and Ronan Mullen. Beechy keeper Peter Ellis pulled off a great penalty save and sharing the Man of the Match award were full backs Cole Winstanley and Ryan Law. (6/5/2021)
There was a Monday evening fixture for the Under 17's Tornadoes in the Bolton Bury and District League. In Section C Beechy travelled to play East Leigh Juniors with just eleven players that included one recognised defender so a makeshift back four was quickly assembled. Producing a superb all-round display Beechy deserved at least a draw rather than suffering a 7-4 defeat. Man of the Match Harrison Hughes (hat-trick) and Jacob Jeffrey got the goals. (7/6/2021)
