Typhoon 1 - 6 Astley Town Lions

With the folding of Winton Wanderers Scorpions we arranged a friendly. At short notice we could only get a team from two divisions above us, so it was always going to be hard. That’s already two teams who’ve been too scared to face us after Crompton Whites did it earlier!
We set up more defensively with Daniel playing pretty much as a wing back.
There was lots of effort in the first half and, courtesy of some fine saves by Peter, kept it to one at the break. Without much possession we’d also fashioned several good chances of our own but failed to work the keeper.
Astley came out a little more aggressive at the start of the second half and we conceded a few soft ones to lose the game. There was some bickering but most of the team kept their heads up and kept going and were rewarded with a consolation goal. Reece pressing high, winning the ball back and crossing for Jamie to score well past their keeper.
Sonny and Peter were the men of the match.
This was tough but showed we could give a game to quality opposition and hopefully should make life easier playing teams at our level. It was also a vital game to keep up fitness as our season has really been stop start so far.
