- Thunder v Chadderton Park Dragons
At Salford Sports Village
Beechy U/16sThunder were at home to Chadderton Park in the North Bury Junior League Green Cup and made it three wins on the trot. Taking the game to their opponents Beechy created some promising chances and opened the scoring when Reiss Miller found space on the left hand side of the area and casually slotted the ball into the net. Similar to Thunder's previous home game lots of chances were on offer but Beechy lacked the finishing touch and Chadderton who always looked dangerous especially from set-pieces were eventually rewarded with an equalising goal. But continuing to play their normal all action game Thunder put Chadderton under sustained pressure and won multiple corners and on one occasion a thunderous volley by Dominic Lawton rattled the crossbar but the visitors keeper was able to deal with the rebound.
Eventually Beechy regained the lead when a peach of a corner by Dominic Lawton was met by Prince Idusuyi who made it 2-1 with a decisive header. Still enjoying a greater share of the ball Thunder were guilty of throwing away more chances while the visitors had high hopes of winning this match as they continued to threaten from set-pieces and Chadderton got their reward when they equalised for a second time. In the final twenty minutes Beechy wasted even more gilt-edged chances until Reiss Miller got past the visitors defence had his shot on target was saved but the hit a Chadderton player and flew into the net. Leading 3-2 Thunder kept attacking and were able to secure their 4-2 victory when following an excellent delivery by Dominic Lawton the ball dropped perfectly to Samuel Oludoyi who completed the scoring with five minutes to go via a simple close range finish. This was an accomplished performance by Thunder considering they had no substitutes and voted Man of the Match was Lee Sylvester for a great debut display at centre back.
