Typhoon 1 - 1 Horwich St Mary’s Vipers
We need to get Peter to learn how to win coin tosses. This was always going to be a tough match against the team second in the table and in the first half we were playing into a gale. Unsurprisingly they put us under lots of pressure but we’re level on points with them for a reason. Typhoon have matured into a decent outfit and battled hard against the wind. Little details are making the difference in games now and one wind assisted ball over the top wasn’t dealt with and we found ourselves a goal down. Huge credit to the boys, they didn’t let their heads go down and Sonny equalised just before the break.
With the wind, it was our turn to put them under pressure, which we did but we struggled to make clear cut chances and, too often tried the killer pass instead of using the wind to get behind a shot.
As the clock counted down things started to get tasty, there were good penalty shouts for both sides, both teams had goals disallowed and Reece thundered a long range effort onto the bar. There was some pushing and shoving after Jamie was fouled, which ended with a couple of yellows. We will back players protecting themselves but don’t want our players getting involved in “afters”.
The whistle went and the game finished in a one all draw, which was probably a fair result. Another excellent performance and we remain unbeaten in 2022. Everyone did their part with Reece stepping up again for his team to cover for the ill Milonga at the back. MoM was tight, they all had a claim, but Joseph just shaded it.
Well done boys.
