Stockport Dynamoes 9-0 Typhoon

With some teams folding and others moving away the League have split the remaining teams into two divisions. Unfortunately we have come in as the lowest ranked of the top flight. Last season I had to fight to keep us in Div 2 when they wanted to relegate us to the third. That hasn’t stopped them turning a deaf ear to my request to play in division 2 so we could have more competitive games. We’ve discussed what’s expected of the boys and that they need to be on it from the starting whistle and perform like they did in the friendly against Moorside.
So, 10 minutes in, a couple of goals down and we hadn’t put a challenge in. Now Stockport are an excellent side, probably the best team we’ve ever played, relying on quality passing and moving instead of a few star players; but we never laid a glove on them. The first half was pretty pitiful, all our worst habits coming to the fore. The only talking we could hear was bickering and arguing. Things got a little better after the break but we were utterly outclassed and even Igor’s pace only resulted in one chance, our only one.
It’s going to be a difficult season, we’ll be underdogs in every match and the only way it’s going to be successful is if we fight like we did against Moorside. Performances like this will result in similar morale crushing batterings.
On the plus side, especially considering the score, I thought the individual defenders all battled well with Ryan O the pick of the bunch and he was named man of the match. The rest of the team need to show the aggression he does all the time.
