A comfortable win from a good performance. We started off pretty well and looked the stronger team but struggled to fashion chances at first. Jamie finally broke the deadlock then a mistake from their keeper left Ronan with an empty net to pass the ball into. Their heads went down a little with that and the result was never really in doubt. Milonga scored following in from a corner and Ronan added a second to make it 4-0 at the break.
What was really pleasing was the confidence that was flowing through the boys. There was some really good interplay, and we started to forge a lot of chances. The boys were willing to carry the ball, look up and pass it to each other. I also heard them talking to each other much more. Hopefully they’ll take this confidence and play like this against stronger teams.
Will had a purple patch after the break, scoring one and putting some beautiful crosses in. Daniel scored from one and Jamie got his head to another but couldn’t quite steer it into the corner. Now we were playing with a swagger and could have had plenty more. The final goal was a pleasure to watch with a couple of one twos putting Joseph through on the keeper and he finished with consummate ease.
There just weren’t any downsides today, all the boys played really well and everyone contributed. Sonny received the man of the match award, he didn’t look like he’d missed the last few games with his broken arm, and he bossed the midfield.
Well done boys.
