Mossbank Whites 1-7 Typhoon
A trip out to the far side of Bolton on a Tuesday night in lovely sunshine. The pitch was on a pretty severe slope and was undulating like a crazy golf course, we’re pretty lucky to have Salford Uni’s pitch for our home.
We’d talked about complacency after our easy win at home against Mossbank and we didn’t start off too well but even with that Daniel opened the scoring early on and had the ball in the net again but it was ruled offside. Reece smashed in a second, following in behind the attackers but it was Will’s arrival that really put us on the front foot. Daniel had given their left back a hard time but Will destroyed him. Soon enough Will had scored and he had chances for more. Jamie and Igor gave us an impregnable 5-0 lead at halftime.
We rang the changes for the second half, partly to give the defenders a rest or a chance to get further forward but also to get players used to playing in new positions. There’ll be times when people are unavailable, ill, injured or suspended and this was a perfect time for the boys to get a little experience.
Unsurprisingly, we weren’t as sure footed as in the first half but only conceded one and were still very dangerous going forward. We were playing some good passing stuff, which resulted in goals for Igor and Milonga but we could have had several more. Igor fluffed a great chance for his hat trick and Will, I think, had one ruled out for offside. Peter had a little run out at the end and came really close to scoring too.
Overall, a very comfortable win. Mossbank have some decent players but nothing to trouble us.
Joseph was man of the match, he played in defence and midfield, won his battles and passed the ball intelligently.
