Moorside Rangers Blue 0-10 (ten) Typhoon

Well I didn’t see this coming. I knew Moorside weren’t the team we faced last season, I thought if we played well we could get a result but double figures?
Straight from the off we looked the better team but it was very competitive. Their defence looked vulnerable to through balls, which Pete and I tried to get over to the substitutes. Reece saw what was happening and really started to pull the strings in midfield and it was he who got the first. Ryan got another, smashing in from inside the box. Jamie’s travails in front of goal continued, failing to convert several chances but crucially he kept his head up and continued to get onto the right spot. Peter pulled off a few saves and the defence kept things pretty tight. We also got lucky with an incorrect offside decision when they were clean through. If we’d taken our chances we could have had the game won but we were happy to go in 2-0 at halftime.
We got right at them again in the second half and had another slice of luck, though luck we worked for. They tried to play the ball out suicidally from a goal kick. Jamie intercepted, the keeper saved at his feet but the ball rebounded to Freddie who finished calmly from outside the box. Jamie was next to get a little luck, getting away with a handball and finishing well. Perhaps that piece of luck is what will make his season as he crashed in two more for a hat trick. Moorside fell apart and it was only a matter of how many. Joseph, Ryan again, Cole and Sam all scored to get us into double figures. The discipline disappeared as the boys were all desperate to score and Peter came to the fore to make sure of his clean sheet.
Once again everyone put a shift in and contributed. Sonny’s influence was really shown when he was substituted and then given a chance to play up front. The back was a shambles at times without him! Milo is so hard to get past and was using the ball much better bringing it out of defence, Will was a lightning buzz all game and Daniel really got stuck in, his tackling getting much stronger as the season’s gone on.
Man of the match was Reece whose performance, especially in the first half when things were still tight, was outstanding. He really pulled the strings in the middle of the pitch.
It’s been a while since we had such a big win so enjoy it, hopefully it’ll do the boys confidence the world of good and stand us in good stead for the rest of the season.
