Typhoon 7-2 Manchester Bee

Hmmmmmmmm, not sure what to say about this one. Manchester Bee could only field 9 players, we them offered two of ours but they declined, so we had a two man advantage.
We started off and were all over them. Jamie was occupying their defenders leaving Will with plenty of room to maraud down the right. Soon enough we were two up. Too many of the boys obviously thought it would be a cake walk and stopped trying and we let Bees back into the match. Jamie came off after a clash with a defender and then due to his heel problem resurfacing couldn’t play on. Bees got well on top and despite being two men down won every fifty fifty and bossed the game. We were reduced to aimlessly hoofing the ball upfield and hoping for the best. Peter made some excellent saves as our midfield stopped screening in front of Milo and Sonny and they got through again and again. We were pretty happy to go in level at 2-2.
Pete and I tore a strip off the boys during the interval and demanded a return to playing some football and putting some effort in.
Gradually we worked our way back into the game and although we still needed Peter at times we started to make the extra men work. Will found more and more room on the right and the midfielder started to pass to each other. As Bees tired we gained confidence and started to score again. Ultimately we ran in 5 unanswered in the half to run out comfortable winners.
Will and Ryan bagged two and Cole, Reece and Joseph also scored.
We played out nicely from the back at times, helped by Cole’s ability to make long passes. The midfield played some nice triangles too but not until the opposition were tiring. They’re good enough, they need to believe in themselves and have the confidence to do this all the time.
I thought there were two candidates for man of the match: Ryan played excellently on the left and in the middle, put some great crosses in and was unlucky not to bag a hat trick. Daniel was magnificent covering at the back and made Joseph’s goal with a great run. My decision was made by one of the players coming to me and telling me who he thought it should be. It was a nice bit of team spirit, which we really want to see more of. So, congratulations to Daniel, he’s been putting a shift in every week and his reading of the game is coming on leaps and bounds.
