Moorside Blue 1-0 Typhoon
When I went to bed on Friday night we had 3 subs. Cole had hurt his leg and pulled out in the morning (2 subs). Jamie could only stay for the first half (1 sub). Sam hurt himself very early on, struggled through 'til half time but had to give up the ghost shortly after (0). Then Harley picked up a knock too! Milo also missed a little at the end of the first half after taking a kick. Blimey! At least their manager took a player off when Harley went off, more than one from a couple of year's back. Please wrap up your little darlings in cotton wool before next week and don't let them play with any ruffians.
Anyway, we knew it would be a tough fixture, this lot beat us convincingly last season and they've been playing in the top flight. They pretty much bossed the first 3/4 of the game but without working Peter too much. We battled very well and kept getting bodies in front of them. We did struggle to make much of an impression going forward, the Albert Park pitch was very fast and with most of the balls forward being clearances as opposed to passes it was difficult for us to keep the ball.
It was very creditable to reach half time goalless and we were still in the game.
Moorside managed to score with admittedly a very good goal but the boys' heads didn't go down and they continued to battle. It seemed to affect them more when it went down to 8-a-side and we created a couple of late chances to steal an equaliser but it just wasn't to be.
A good, whole hearted and committed performance from all the boys. Joseph, as ever, battled away in midfield but I thought Milo was excellent at the back. He doesn't shirk from a battle and was my man of the match.
