- U/16's Match Reports 26th/27th October 2024
Beechy Under 16's Hurricanes and Thunder were in action in their respective leagues on Saturday and Sunday 26th/27th October 2024.
*In the Salford and Districts Junior League the Under 16's HURRICANES met Urmston Town at home in their latest Division 1 fixture. Despite being short of players it was the visitors who took the lead but Beechy equalised via Joshua Whitehead who hammered a ferocious free kick into the bottom corner of the net. Sophiyulah Bakare was on target when he gave the Hurricanes the lead then Zach Davies with a headed goal put Beechy 3-1 up following a great assist from Henry Errington. In this dominant second half display Henry Errington completed the scoring with an audacious chip over the keeper. Thanks to the three points the Hurricanes secured second place in the league table. Man of the Match was Dillan Caldwell. Result Beechy 4 v Urmston 1.
*Beechy Under 16's THUNDER were had a long-distance trip for their Division 3 away game with Glossop North End. This East Manchester Junior League Division 3 game went ahead on a brand new Astroturf Pitch and in a tight first half both teams were limited to just a few chances so a 0-0 scoreline was a true reflection on the first forty minutes. The hosts were on the attack straight from the restart and Glossop's main striker forced a great piece of goalkeeping from Oliver Dalton-Bunker. After beating the Beechy offside trap the same striker raced clear and won a penalty that he took himself and gave North End the lead. Thunder went 2-0 down after the ball was fired home from 30yards but Thunder worked hard to reduce the arrears in a solid fightback. Rafael Alarcon brilliantly broke up another Glossop move and launched a counter-attack but as he raced over the halfway line was victim of a heavy challenge that forced the referee to show a hosts player the yellow card. Thunder eventually got a goal back when a great pass down the right flank released Rafael Djacy and he delivered a superb cross to Devon Birkett and he set-up Pedro Dos-Santos who fired the ball home from the edge of the area. The second half produced a really good game of football and Beechy were unlucky not to earn at least a draw. Sultan Oladoja was voted Thunder's Man of the Match. Result Glossop North End 2 v Beechy Thunder 1.
