*Under 11 STORM continued their good run of form, which has seen us promoted to the Red Group, with victory over Winton Wanderers Silverbacks.
A bright start again from Beechy and we were on the front foot creating chances but a little wasteful in from of goal until Max Scofield got the scoring underway with a free kick right into the top bins from all of 25 years. The boys were going through the gears and creating lots of chances but got caught out on the break and Winton scored a worldie to equalise. The boys didn’t let that affect them though and continued to dominate, Barkley Pope beating his man time and time again and this time he was clinical nestling the ball into the bottom corner. It was one way traffic and Denholm Brooks got in on the scoring action after more good work from Barkley finding his team mate who’s first touch was lovely and his finish was equal to it nestling in the bottom corner. It was Ismail Adetona's turn to get in on the scoring beating his man and smashing home. Denholm got his second just before half time another great touch and finish to go in with a healthy lead at half time.
Into the second half and it was much the same, with Beechy on the attack but missing a few good chances until Max took control, beat three opponents and side rooted under the keeper for the sixth goal. Ismail got his second after good run he rifled into the bottom corner. Jack Sinclair was a makeshift right back for the most part but had a stint on the left wing, and no sooner had he changed position he picked up the ball on the left edge of the box and bent on into the top corner. To wrap up the scoring Austin Pierce beat his man, played a one-two with Max and smashed the ball home. Another top performance from the boys but much harder games to come.
Man of the Match was Barkley Pope, he bossed the game in midfield, skinned his man every time he got it, scored 1 and probably should’ve had a few more goals.
*Getting back to winning ways were Beechy Under 10's STORM who met Monton Sports Juniors the team that beat Storm in last seasons cup final. At Beech Farm Storm went onto the pitch with a point to prove against their opponents who probably have the biggest goalkeeper in the league. This Red Group game started off well for Beechy who were literally camped in the opposition half firing shots on target that produced some fine saves from the Monton goalie. Oscar Pugh who was waiting in the penalty area gave Storm the lead when he tapped the ball home following a perfectly weighted cross. The message at half time was to keep every shot low and test the Monton keeper's ability nearer the ground and the Beechy Boys did exactly that. Continuing to move the ball well Storm added their second goal after Alfie Heighway played a through pass to Bobby Lowe who added the finishing touch. Beechy continued to dominate the match and Isaac Hargreaves was rewarded for his hard work when he scored Storm's third goal. Kade Doyle joined the list of goalscorers with a nice finish for goal number four to top off a classy Beechy performance. Monton Sports got a consolation goal after a throw-in but this didn't take the gloss off this fantastic display by Storm.
*In the Manchester Youth Super League the Under 11's LIGHTNING met Collyhurst Youth Blues and failed to get one goal as reward for all their efforts. This is one result to forget so the message was move on and win next Saturday's game. Lightning's Man of the Match was Finley Thompson-Hale who put in a great performance, calm on the ball and strong in the tackle.
*Beechy Under 9's THUNDER were at home against Red Star Lionesses at Beech Farm Playing Fields. The standard of the Red Group in the Salford and Districts League has been significantly raised this season and there were some great passages of play within the game. Thunder made another poor start and went behind following an own goal but Beechy responded and during twenty minutes of good football kept the pressure on Red Star. Player of the Match Antonio Embalo who stated in an unfamiliar striker position where he thrived scoring Beechy's equaliser. Antonio's endless pressing gave room for the midfield trio of Archie Heighway, Tiffany Kandemiri and Harrison Spencer to attack at will and it was Harrison who netted Thunder's second goal which put Beechy in front. Though Thunder looked untroubled they conceded two goals in as many minutes before half time. Red Star scored again just after the restart but a poachers goal by Oscar Spencer restored the deficit. Despite numerous chances Beechy succumbed to two late goals and lost the game. Thunder have definitely enough quality in the squad to start winning games again.
*The in-form Under 12's TORNADOES (9v9) maintained their unbeaten run in the Salford and Districts League with a sixth successive victory. Beechy have a healthy points lead at the top of Division 1 following a 7-0 victory over Urmston Town Phoenix. Every Tornadoes player produced a top-class performance against their very physical opponents. Men of the Match were Max Blood who was on target with four goals and Blake Salmon who gave another great defensive display. The Tornadoes other goalscorers were Kian Murphy, Daniel Badewa and Luke Bennett while assists for the goals came via George Barlow, Lucio Riva, Luke Bennett, Zach MacKinnon and goalkeeper Harvey Pugh.
*There was a bad day at the office for the Under 15's TORNADOES who official Division 2 home game was switched to their opponents ground. Beechy were in action against Manchester Bees and in a poor first half performance failed to get a foothold in the contest. The Tornadoes played a bit better in the second half but just couldn't take their chances and were caught out on the counter-attack a couple of times. Overall for Beechy, very disappointing to lose so comprehensively.
*Involved in another goal feast in the Bolton Bury and District League were the Under 17's HURRICANES. At home to Old Rivingtonians in Section B Beechy started off in the first half dominating possession and actually playing decent football. The Hurricanes went ahead when a cross-cum-shot by Glenn Tepa resulted in the ball ending up in the back of the net. An error led to an amazing goal line clearance by Danny Gregory but the referee said the ball was over the line and awarded the goal and Rivingtonians were back level. This affected the Hurricanes and following another error Beechy conceded a second goal to give the visitors a slender lead at half time and more errors in the second half gifted Rivingtonians a 4-1 lead before the Beechy onslaught started. Ethan Mangwiro was fouled in the box and he scored from the spot kick then Kane Wood won the Hurricanes another penalty that he took himself and netted Beechy's third goal then Kane was on target again from a free kick awarded outside the box when he made it 4-4. Man of the Match Kane completed his hat-trick when during a race with the Rivingtonians keeper to get to a through ball got there first to give the Hurricanes the lead but he wasn't finished yet as he scored his fourth goal to edge Beechy 6-4 up. The Hurricanes conceded a fifth goal to make it a nervous finale but they survived before securing the three points and a 6-5 victory.
