A Dean may be considered the Head of a University but we witnessed Tornado’s graduation today.
Lessons were learned from a run of three losses on the spin as Tornados schooled their opponents in a coming of age performance.
We’re told 3 is a magic number. Why? Because it’s the smallest number that will create a pattern.
Fitting because 3 weeks ago we witnessed Tornados lose to Deans.
Equally fitting because patterns of play were pivotal for a revitalised Tornados today. We witnessed a goal delta compared to the reverse fixture 21 days ago, which ended in a loss, as Tornados ran out comfortable winners this time out.
Tornados squared that circle.
It was a Brentford-esque start for the team in their inaugural season as Brayden scored seconds from the kick off with a peach of a long range strike.
Bryce, playing with the knowhow and maturity of a man who has lead the line for many years, created chances for himself and his teammate with defence-terrorising movement. Had it not been for an excellent goalkeeping display Carroll could have had his name on the goal sheet as his intelligence got him into position to fire snapshots from all angles at the Deans stopper.
It wasn’t long before the Tornado pressure broke their opponent’s defensive barriers as Brayden, backed by a sturdy, well studied defensive unit, made it two.
Bodie, ushering the back line throughout the game set off on one of his driving runs and was found by Brayden who came short to play quarterback-esque balls through the Deans defence throughout. A composed Morrison finish put Tornados three in front. A goal, to the delight of the coaching staff, straight from the auditorium.
But shortly before half time Deans got a goal back to refocus the minds of the men in the light blue shirts.
Half time. Huge improvements but job not done.
Fresh legs at the break with Amir entering the fray.
Brayden, an equation the opposition just could not solve as he took on a free role, bagged his third goal of the game and third hat-trick of the season. It is being muted that, if he was taking home match balls, Beechfield would need Ratcliffe levels of investment by the end of the season.
Game over? Not until the school bell goes. Deans nipped in shortly after to set up a tense final third of the game.
Kayden picked up where Bryce left off, stretching the game and causing headaches for the defence, creating chance after chance and pressing from the front to thwart opposition attacks.
As Kayden occupied the centre halves, Amir set down the left wing on a mazy run jinking past challenges with ease before applying a deft finish to restore Beechy’s three goal lead.
He wasn’t finished there. A carbon copy was to follow but this time he would apply a left footed finish which was the only thing that separated supporters from thinking they were watching a replay.
Cormac with a mature, confident performance and calming presence throughout made crucial saves at critical times to keep his team in the driving seat. The young keeper showed great alertness, bravery and excellent distribution throughout.
The ever improving Oscar Hall, a strong contender for Man of the Match, was a formidable force at the back. Halting numerous attacks, playing out early from the back and putting his team on the front foot by single handedly driving through the Deans scrum.
Job done.
Only the 2nd game into a new formation and it clicked.
Safe to say, the calculated Tornados delivered a prime performance.
