An early bank holiday clash today for the Storm boys up against familiar faces at Winton.
The first half started with a quick goal from Winton but the boys didn’t let their heads drop. There were many chances for the boys in this half but the ball did everything but cross the line between the sticks! Louie showed some impressive footwork as a striker, against strong players who marked him for the entire half, being strong in pressing and unlucky not to score.
Ollie and Archie worked hard on the left wing. Taking turns to make sure the position was well held and both were fast up and down the wing for the entire half, winning the ball back and driving forward. Jett and Reni also worked tirelessly on the opposite wing, battling against Winton and making some great through balls.
Harry made some excellent saves in the first half too keeping it a one goal lead for Winton. With Theo in midfield and defence helping to keep away any more goals and with his usual rocket pace he really helped keep the players on their toes.
Jaxx as always was as solid as a rock at the back, with a few slide tackles thrown in for good measure, he made sure that the defence was all under control throughout the game.
The birthday boy Noah was also very unlucky with a penalty, the boys were willing him to score and he made a great strike but it was just saved by their keeper (who also had a great game!)
When the whistle blew for the second half we knew that we could still take the lead. The Storm boys never give up and with lots of chances created in the first half we knew that we could finish some if we continued our work rate.
With a well timed foul Ollie stepped up to take a free kick and with great force it hit the back of the net! We knew back level we could now open up to more goals. As predicted, Archie was next with a clinical finish on the wing which was very well deserved goal based on his performance in the first half. Soon after Jett also had a brilliant finish, taking on players and show casing his skills before a fabulous strike and a top off celebration!!
The game ended with a final goal from Winton in the last few minutes of the game. All the coaches and parents were thrilled with the performance. Not only the goals that were scored but the football on display! The boys are really working as a team now and seeing some of the passing on display today they really were superb. All the boys were outstanding!

MOTM today was Archie. A brilliant performance from start to finish with a great goal too topping off his performance. Well done Archie!
