At the Leagues central venue a 4-0 winning result matched Lightning's superb overall performance against Strike Girls FC. All the Beechy players were excellent from the first whistle to the last. Lightning scored three great goals in the first half with good finishes from Henry Dunn, Austin Fillingham and Matteo La Rana. Dominating the second half Beechy secured their fully deserved victory when Riley Hancock smashed home a long range effort. Man of the Match went to the whole team from goalkeeper to the strikers.

**Beechy bounce back with a brilliant performance*….
Back at it today and we were keen to put on a good display after last weeks disappointing result.
We started well and it took us a little while to get into the swing of things. We grew as the game went on.
2-0 lead at half time is nothing so we needed to keep up the good work and do well for the full game. Something we haven’t done at times this season.
The passing/movement was a joy and I could watch it all day long!…. Some brilliant performances today.
Standouts:
Harvey - was class today and made some fantastic saves, at important times too. Very happy with his performance! 🧤
Tom N - brilliant defending 1v1s, used the ball well and scored a decent long range goal. Needs to keep up the good work! 💪
Tom R - class performance again, his confidence grew as the game went on. Some very good well taken goals again. Top player! ⚽️⚽️⚽️
Overall very happy with the football on show and good result. We need to keep it going!

**Well today wasn’t great…
Nice day for football but it was frustrating to say the least…
The meet time is when people should arrive for.
That gives the lads 30 mins for a decent warm up. Please make sure you are on time.
1 player turned up mid way through the first half, and after me who’d been at my other game… it’s not good enough. Doesn’t help the team…………………..
It’s no wonder we were miles off it first half. No where near good enough. Not working hard as a team. Couldn’t put any passes together. Can’t do the basics then complaining when it doesn’t go their way…
It was bad to see. 4-0 down at halftime. Heads had gone.
Second half. The lads needed picking up again after a bad first half. A few positional changes were needed and it worked. We were much the better side in the second half.
Creating plenty more chances and running for the ball. Doing the basics much better. We scored a good goal and were unlucky not to score a few more. Hit the post twice and couple of other decent chances.
1-0 to us in the second half so much improved than the first.
4-1 final score.
There’s a lot to work on. A lot for the lads to learn.
What we do when we have the ball and what to do when we don’t… holding a position.
That’s why it is imperative to come to training so we can work on things. The some lads who haven’t trained for a while and it shows.
If we come to training. Train as we play, and put that into the game on a Saturday then it will soon come.

BEECHFIELD UTD THUNDER 2 v Moorside Rangers 4
First defeat in nine for Thunder credit to the away side making it a very good competitive game throughout the match and full credit to Thunder whos never stop attitude until the final whistle making it a good game overall. Goal Scorers for Thunder was Ronnie Green with a great finish of his right foot beating a strong Goalkeeping performance from the away team, Player of the Match Aldo Gannon whos non stop running and finding space all match slotted his goal from the penalty spot with powerful accuracy into the bottom left corner, Raurie Brassington in Goals was the coaches Player of the Match making some incredible saves and even a double save, Result wise disappointing but again proud of all the players who play the same opposition next week and hopefully get the chance to make amends.

**BEECHFIELD UTD TORNADOES U8s 2 v LSA Juniors Black 8
Saturday 21st March 2026

First half
A beautiful sunny day. Beechfield started on the attack, passing between Gianluca, Noah, and Eric, leading to Eric’s goal to make it 1-0.
Theo became unstoppable in goal, making several saves, and when he couldn’t, Eric made a goal-line clearance.
Two shots from Franklin were blocked, first by the keeper and then by the post.
LSA managed to equalise with a close-range shot and immediately turned the score around with another goal.
Two consecutive shots from Gianluca and Eric were saved by the keeper.
That’s how the first half ended.
Second half
In the second half, Gianluca replaced Theo in goal.
A long-range shot put LSA up 3-1.
Theo and Franklin were both denied by the goalkeeper. Gianluca made a few saves, but after hitting the post, LSA scored two more times.
After Theo hit the post, Beechfield scored through Franklin’s powerful long-range shot.
Following a run down the left by Zane, which was saved by the goalkeeper, LSA scored three more times to close the game at 2-8.

Excellent team performance today. Attitudes were superb as they played for each other executing great passages of play and converting far more often than not as a result of making the right decision.
Ellis - Terrific first half hat trick sealed by a peach of a long range strike. Assured goalkeeping performance in the second half, always first to one on ones.
Cormac - Used footballing brain to pick up dangerous positions and sought out teammates at will. Excellent first touches, threatening dribbles and a string of defence splitting passes put Beechfield in advantageous positions throughout the game. Got on the score sheet by taking a skilful first touch on the turn and tucking home, deservedly finding the back of the net following a selfless game. Like a young Van Der Vaart.
Ezra - manned the back line on his own for the majority of the game and thwarted upwards of 8 counter attacks. Started Beechfield attacks with smart distribution from the back. Showed versatility across a range of positions and always worked hard for the team. His dad works for MKM and I’m pretty sure he’s manufactured his son from solid brick. Solid and classy.
Jayden - Midfield maestro. Getting heavily involved in the build up, pace and power and found himself arriving in the box at the right time resulted in Jayden scoring his first ever goal for the club. A joyful occasion for all.
Leo - Solid, selfless performance out of position on the left wing. Great build up play and found the corner with a great strike in the first half. Moved into the backline and shut up shop. Incredibly reliable and consistent which is critically important.
Oscar - Came off the bench to bag two goals in a threatening performance. Quick down the wing, wonderful turns and two of the cleanest finishes you’ll see in this weekends fixtures. The first on the half turn which cut the heads off of the daisies and arrows into the bottom far corner.
Ralph - Assured goalkeeping performance in the first half followed by a Ralph Cassidy classic in the middle of the park; turning the ball over and finding incisive passes throughout. Went on a mazy run past three a finessed a finish past the keeper one on one for his goal. Excellent.
Arlo - Unpredictable and unplayable; best when looking to create chances for others as well as self. Highlights include a wonderful assist and a peach of a cross shot from long range and an awkward angle. Filled in across multiple positions including a stint at the back showing desire to work for the team.
Adam - Struck a wonderful balance of battling for the team, finding team mates to create chances and popping up in goalscoring positions. Scored brace and unlucky not to get another. Great performance.

Storm & Lightning locked horns for the fourth time this season & it was an exciting game. Lightning with a host of new players showed some fantastic progression though Storm came out on top.
Storm starting with a new 2-3-1 formation with Vincent in goal, Reggie and Yusha at the back, the 3 man midfield of James, Nathan & Jacob with Arman taking the spot upfront.
Early doors both team were figuring each other out though from a lightning corner storm took the lead from a counter attack; jacob playing out to Arman who ran directly at the defence, James screaming for it on the right though Arman opted for a deft slip pass to Nathan on the left who then boxed to James who took his first goal of the game.
On the ascendancy storm piled on pressure and Jacob striking from close distance, parried by Bobby in net James was again in the right place at the right time.
Lightning did have some chances on the break with Freddie, Ralph and Elliott all seeing chances go wide - Reggie & George both making stand out 1v1 tackles to stop shots on goal as well as Vincent making some critical saves being so quick off his line clearing lines. The breakthrough came as Ralph won and finished from distance leaving Vincent little chance.
The pressure continued through storm though Lightning adapted well - Bobby really excelled saving shots from Jacob, Nathan, Josh & Arman with some heroic defending from Bodie, Brayden and Finlay putting their bodies on the line. The woodwork came to Lightnings aid as some slalom like work from Nathan on the right saw James smash his close effort against the crossbar & a corner saw George knee his effort against the top of the goalpost.
Storm frustrated at half time needed settling; a switch to a familiar formation with wingers made an instant impact as suddenly Lightning were stretched. The goal came through some innovation from a Reggie kick in as Nathan ran the line as a decoy as Reggie lifted the ball in the box for Jacob who won the ball and curled it above Bobby.
Storm now fully settled saw Nathan tripped who produced an identical freekick from distance nestling into the back of the net. This was followed by storm now penning Lightning in, James shifting the ball to Nathan who’s twinkle toes were too much and finished into the bottom of the net.
Jose absolutely desperate to get onto the score sheet was pushing hard, winning the ball upfield and getting shots off though none making it in. He squirmed the ball past the goal keeper and took an assist as James instinctively finished to take his hattrick.
As power play assumed Storms progress slowed as Lightning was dogged in their defending intelligently picking up key men - a switch back to the original formation happened and the lads took to it brilliantly to shut up shop.
Josh absolutely shattered subbed himself having ran himself into the ground for the team saw Yusha move forward into midfield making some excellent passes through the midfield and Reggie turned into prime Roberto Carlos storming down the left pinging in crosses.
Goal did come as Jose finally broke his duck by getting the ball over the line from an acute angle; Jacob piled in to make sure!!!
Storm progress in the cup though Lightning showed their metal with some strong individual performances despite the scoreline.
*POTM & Parents Player*
Double winner for *George* who was absolutely imperious at the back - it’s been a stop start season though today was a real reminder of what an important player he can be for the team. Strong in the tackle, showed composure on the ball and pretty much every pass was spot on. His speed cut out 2-3 clear on goal chances for the team and provided Vincent in goal the confidence to be able to play out from the back. Voted unanimously by the players and parents.
Additional shout outs to Nathan who show cased his talents, James red hot scoring form continued with a hattrick and Jacob had moments where he looked the real deal, goals and assists added to his tally.

The final cup match arrived with everything on the line — a win was needed to keep hopes alive for reaching the final. The team lined up with Harry in goal, William in defence, and an attacking trio of Julio (right), Samuel (centre), and Alvin (left).
The game started evenly, with both sides creating chances. Around the 7th minute, Urmston struck first to take the lead. Beechfield responded quickly — Samuel launched a long throw into the box, and after a deflection off an Urmston player, the ball slowly rolled into the net for the equaliser.
A defensive setback allowed Urmston to regain the lead, but once again the boys showed resilience. After a strong ball recovery, Jude drove forward, beat the goalkeeper, and calmly finished to make it 2–2.
Urmston took advantage of a mistake during the kickoff play around the 17th minute, scoring their third goal. However, just before half-time, Kevin’s intensity paid off — he recovered the ball high up the pitch, and his effort rolled into the net to level the match 3–3 going into the break.
The second half was a completely different story. Beechfield created numerous chances but struggled to convert. One of the clearest opportunities came from another long throw by Samuel, which reached the danger area. Julio recovered the ball and passed to Jude, whose left-footed shot struck the post before the goalkeeper managed to clear the rebound.
As the game went on, the tension grew. At around the 13th minute of the second half, Urmston capitalised on their opportunity and scored what would become the decisive goal, making it 4–3.
Despite continued pressure and effort from Beechfield, the equaliser never came.
Even so, this match clearly showed the team’s growth — confident passing, strong teamwork, and the ability to create multiple scoring opportunities against a very competitive opponent.
🏅 Man of the Match
Harry earns the award today with a strong and focused performance. He remained alert throughout the match and made several key interventions to stop dangerous attacking plays from Urmston.
👨👩👦 Parent Player of the Match
Although the award wasn’t officially given today, it’s fair to say the entire team deserves recognition. Every player gave their maximum effort, fought until the end, and showed great commitment in such an important match.
**There was agony for Beechfield United Under 16's TORNADOES in their Supplementary Cup Group Stage game with Winton Wanderers Spartans. At home in the tie Beechy fought back from 3-1 down to level at 3-3 and force a penalty kick decider. All three goals for the Tornadoes in normal time were scored by Jayden Hoye but unfortunately Beechy lost the shoot-out 5-4 missing the chance of their first win of the season.
