Storm Away at their home pitch after an agreed reverse with Swinton Titans.
Storm pressed their opposition from the off, winning possession of the ball and straight away Storm were on the attack trying to find the first goal with Lucas Jones pinging one off the post and Charlie striking it just wide of the post a couple of times. Titans got into their rhythm and started tightening up at the back and their keeper making some important shot stops. Soon enough they found the counter and struck the ball home into the bottom left corner. Storm kept their chins up and continued to dominate in the first half. Lucas King found a gap for Lucas Jones to collect, he turned the defender inside out and sent the keeper in the opposite direction of the ball for the equalizer. Storm confident after grabbing the equalizer went on to take the lead with Abe claiming the second goal to take the lead. Titans tried to find opportunities midway through the 2nd half, but Storm’s defence made up of Corey and Lucas made it look really difficult to convict a pass through the middle and down both channels, also noted was Jacob taking it upon himself to help play in the sweeper role, this has turned many a Storm followers head over the last few weeks, especially pivotal against Titans. The ball finding its way in Titan’s half of the pitch, was only a matter of time before it landed to Jude for him to make one of his spectacular runs down the wing and whip it in for Abe to strike and collect his 2nd goal of the game. Titans pressed heavier after Storm’s 3rd goal. There was a minor tussle just inside the box where a Titan player was brought down and won a penalty. Titans placed the ball on the spot and struck it with some power. Our Number 1 Rocky dived the correct way and committed everything he had and made the most amazing save. ‘Definitely save of the season for him’.
Titans got in their stride and the big centre half was behind every ball, pelting shot after shot and eventually finding the back of the net. With Storm being the dominant team in the game, It wasn’t long before our leading goal scorer Charlie took the score away from Titans. Sonny made a great run down the wing, cut inside and delivered to Charlie. I think the ball ended end up somewhere in the top corner. A win for the Beechy Boys on the day and back to back wins for Beechfield Storm. Captain’s armband went to Abe for his two goals. Lucas 1 parent’s MOTM for his solid defending and delivery.
