A bright crisp Saturday morning in Urmston and the Thunder Boys were looking for another away win after their great result against JBAS last time out. The game started off very competitive with both teams looking evenly matched and both fighting for possession. Thunder creating some early chances with some bursting runs by Angelo and Ralph coming close to finding Thunder's first goal. Against the run of play Urmston were first to score from a neat shot that found it's way past Bobby and into the bottom corner. Thunder were quick to get back on the front foot and it was Angelo who found the equaliser after a good attacking run and a neat finish past the Urmston keeper. Thunder kept the pressure on with Finley and Che linking up well down the wing but Urmston found a spot of luck with a corner bouncing off the unfortunate Ralph to regain the lead. Urmston scored a third not long after after the Thunder boys went pressing for the equaliser but were caught out on the counter attack. The introduction of José and Shammah gave Thunder some extra spark and José was unlucky not to score on his first attempt at goal narrowly just missing the Urmston goal. With Thunder pressing to get back into the game Urmston capitalized on another break away as the thunder defence were caught napping. A suspect penalty for Urmston came shortly after where Bobby made an outstanding save but unfortunately for Thunder the rebound was pounced on.
Into the second half and Thunder began just like the first on the front foot and looking dangerous and the pressure was rewarded when José found himself in space to finish around the Urmston keeper. Like a carbon copy of the first half Urmston were awarded a very soft second penalty which Bobby expertly saved only for the rebound to be pounced on with the Thunder defence sleeping. Thunder not deterred went looking to get back on the scoreboard and after some good break up play by Gio it was Che who would fire in Thunder's third. The introduction of Elliot gave Thunder an extra lift to try and claw back Urmston but it just proved to much of a task with Urmston eventually adding to their scoreline. A tough one for the boys today with some hard lessons learnt and some homework to work on ⚡.
Man of the Match - Angelo, his goal got Thunder going and his attacking runs and shooting throughout the game caused Urmston problems.
