*Playing some of their best football this season Beechy Under 9's THUNDER secured a deserved away win over Stockport Villa. Thunder dominated this Salford and District Junior League Blue Group game from start to finish. Most of the first twenty five minutes was played in Stockport's half of the pitch and though Beechy created a glut of chances somehow they couldn't turn their advantage into goals. The second half produced a similar pattern as Thunder continued to created more chances again without success until eight from minutes from time. Beechy finally broke the deadlock following some good team play when the ball fell to Man of the Match Harley Cosgrove-Newby who hammered it into the roof of the net from the penalty spot. With two minutes remaining thanks to a rare Stockport breakaway move and a mistake in Thunder's area the hosts equalised. But straight from the restart Beechy went on the attack and after one of his amazing runs Hugo Balogan fired the ball from the byline and it crept into the bottom corner of the net for Thunder's match winning goal.
*In the Under 8's Red Group Beechy THUNDER were away to Ordsall Cubs in what is always a tough fixture but Thunder produced a superb performance to earn themselves the win. Working on passing and moving into space in training sessions was one of the key elements for Beechy in this game. In control from the beginning Thunder missed a few chances before making the breakthrough just before half time. After the Ordsall keeper had made an initial save the ball fell to Jude Bond who made space for himself before firing it into the corner of the net. As Thunder maintained their dominance in the second half Chase Sixsmith who is becoming a really good striker was on target when he netted a hat trick and shortly after Ordsall Cubs got a late consolation goal. It was the unselfishness of the Beechy Boys that was really pleasing and voted Man of the Match was Antonio Embalo following an energetic performance and delivering some great crossses from the right wing.
*The Under 9's STORM had no Salford and Districts League fixture so a friendly match was arranged with AFC Urmston Meadowside. The opening period of the game was pretty even as both teams passed the ball around skilfully and the Beechy Boys produced a great effort against their opponents who won the game by the odd goal in five. Goals for Strom came via Man of the Match Kade Doyle and Bobby Lowe.
*Beechy Under 10's TORNADOES faced Salford Storm for the third time this season and this home game was moved to Salford Sports Village. Previous encounters between the teams have been won by the opposition by a single goal so another close game was expected but due to injuries the Tornadoes had just seven players available. The first half was a tight affair with only a few chances on offer and Beechy defenders Aiden Thompson and Reuben McCormick who were rock solid throughout restricted Salford Storm to long range efforts which were easily dealt with by Tornadoes keeper Oscar Bennetta. Beechy had most of the play and threatened to score via Anika Wojciak and Sammy Omoregie before the Tornadoes took the lead just before the end of the first half when Ryan Cordingley got his first goal of the season. The second half began as the first half finished a tight affair with only a few clear cut chances and once again Anika and Sammy went close with shots from distance before Beechy were awarded a penalty. Anika took the resulting spot-kick and her clean strike looked to be sending the ball into the top corner of the net but the Salford Storm keeper pulled off a miraculous save to deny the Tornadoes a vital sceond goal. The game remained end to end and in midfield Ralph Theaker's strength and tenacity stopped Salford's attacks on numerous occasions and five minutes from the end during a one-on-one Oscar Bennetta made an astonishing double save to maintain Beechy's narrow lead. With no substitutes available the Tornadoes fought on warrior like and threatened a second goal as much as Salford Strorm threatened and equaliser. Beechy fully deserved their hard fought one goal victory and Player of the Match could have been anyone but the award went to Aiden Thompson for an outstanding defensive display which helped the Tornadoes earn their second clean sheet in the last three games.
*Also in action at Salford Sports Village were the Under 10's STORM who played local rivals Moorside Rangers Reds. After making a slow and disappointing start that put them on the back foot Beechy conceded three goals in the opening fifteen minutes. Gradually Storm started to play a bit of football and reduced the arrears after great tenacity by Austin Pierce who won the ball off the Reds last defender and fired it into the net. Beechy were suddenly a different team and continuing to push hard were rewarded with a second goal when following great work Jack Sinclair supplied a superb through pass and Austin Pierce beat his marker before hammering the ball home with his left foot and despite keeping the pressure on their opponents Storm just couldn't find a third goal before the whistle went for half time. Into the second half Beechy continued on the front foot and twice efforts hit the crossbar before Storm got the equaliser when Barkley Pope worked hard down the right wing and delivered the ball into the area and during a bit of a scramble Kobe Glass got the vital touch to get Beechy back on level terms. It was all one way traffic but despite keeping Rangers under pressure Storm were unable to make the vital breakthrough and Beechy were harshly punished when Rangers launched a rare attack and regained the lead. Heads didn't go down and straight from the restart Storm were on the attack again and a superb strike by Jack Sinclair hit the underside of the crossbar and everyone was convinced the ball was well over the line but unfortunately the referee didn't award the goal which would have earned Beechy at least a draw.
*In their Green Group away game with Salford Storm Devils the Under 10's LIGHTNING started well and dominating possession created chances as the players won their individual battles. Lightning scored a great team goal when they took the lead midway through the first half through Crewe Reeves who supplied a great finish from inside the area. Beechy went on to create another four really good chances soon after but they couldn't add to their tally and against the run of play Salford Storm equalised just before the break. Both teams continued to create chances as play switched from end to end and it was Salford Storm who added two goals to claim the victory. The Beechy Boys were deflated at the final whistle because they could have achieved a positive result. Lightning Manager James Fillingham was proud of all the players who had given total committment. Player of the Match was Kayson Gregg who excelled in a battling midfield performance.
*In action in the Under 11's Blue Group were Beechy TORNADOES (9v9) who had an away game at Swinton Lions. During a close opening ten minutes both teams were evenly matched but Swinton's midfield started to enjoy more of the ball and slightly against the run of play the Lions got the opening goal. Beechy pushed hard for an equaliser and it finally arrived midway through the first half when Luke Bennett was on target. Then Zach MacKinnon managed to nick the ball off the Swinton keeper and his goal gave the Tornadoes a 2-1 lead at the break. The second started with Beechy playing up the hill and though play was quite even the Lions continued to deliver some great through passes past the Beechy defenders. A breakaway move resulted in Swinton's equalising goal and after another fast attack the hosts went 3-2 up when they were awarded a penalty. The Tornadoes goalkeeper Max Blood made a brave effort to get control of the ball but it broke free and a fourth Swinton goal secured the home side a 4-2 victory. Lucio Riva was named Tornadoes Man of the Match.
*Beechy Under 12's THUNDER (9v9) were away in Division 4 to Salford Storm Hailstorm but due to Beechy's opponents not having enough players the game was played 7v7. From the start Thunder were in control and took the lead in the 2nd minute through Mohammed Edris. Well on top Beechy were able to increase their lead thanks to a ten minute hat-trick by Ajab Fakeeh that included a supeb volley from the edge of the area. Salford Storm managed to reduce the arrears before Theo McNulty went on a mazy run and put Thunder 5-1 up with a neat finish into the bottom corner of the net. One of Salford Storm's players decided he didn't want to be involved in the second half so Beechy's Abdul Mohammed voluteered to play for the opposition. Samuel Sulmataj scored Thunder's sixth goal following a corner but shortly after Salford Storm made it 6-2 when they were awarded a penalty. Sonny Farrell chased down a bouncing ball and managed to set-up Kristian Georgiev who completed the scoring with goal number seven.
*The Under 12's TORNADOES (9v9) home pitch was deemed unplayable so their Division 6 fixture with Winton Hurricanes went ahead at Brookhouse Playing Fields. The game was a tight affair with a couple of early chances easily dealt with by both goalkeepers. Winton Hurricanes opened the scoring just before half time and they held their 1-0 lead at the break. In the second half the Tornadoes energy level dropped slightly but they were rewarded with an equalising goal scored by Bryan Enetomhe. Unfortunately a couple of Beechy errors gifted Winton two more goals and a 3-1 victory but the Tornadoes male and female players were always in the game and didn't deserve to suffer a defeat.
*For their latest Salford and Districts League Division 2 fixture Beechy Under 14's TORNADOES were away to Signol Athletic Yellow. Despite having to deal with a very small pitch the Tornadoes played some great football but couldn't convert their chances and lost the game 2-0.
*For their Challenge Cup Quarter-Final tie the Under 15's HURRICANES face Wythenshawe Wanderers away. The hosts opened the scoring following slack Beechy defending and the Hurricanes soon found themselves 2-0 down. Joshua Whitehead with the help of a goalkeeping error halved the deficit then Beechy made it 2-2 via Man of the Match Alfie Rostron after a move involving keeper Max Gill-Williams, Owen Hogben and Rafael Djacy. Wythenshawe Wanderers regained the lead in the second half and as play became rather scrappy the hosts added a fourth goal that secured their place in the semi-finals.
*Beechy Under 15's THUNDER were back in action on Sunday morning in the East Manchester Junior League. Thunder's Division 3 away game with Reddish Vulcans was switched to Beechy's ground after their opponents pitch had been deemed unplayable. Reddish Vulcans took a 2-0 lead before Thunder reduced the arrears with a goal from Rafael Djacy following great build up play between Oliver Nangle and Devon Birkett. The first forty five minutes was fairly even throughout and Reddish managed to hold their 2-1 lead when the referee ended the first half. Thunder came more into the game in the second half but they trailed 3-1 when the visitors were awarded a penalty. Following great work from Jack Logan-Knox the ball was controlled by Mihail Savchev who scored Beechy's second goal when he produced a stunning finish. Jack almost earned Thunder a draw in the closing stages but the Reddish keeper made a superb one-handed save.
*Looking to end a run of seven defeats were the Under 16's HURRICANES who faced a tough eighty minutes in their home game against Bolton Bury and District League Section C leaders Jogabola Blues. At one stage in the game Beechy trailed by four goals but though they bravely fought back eventually suffered a 6-3 defeat. Goalscorers for the Hurricanes were Man of the Match Brandon Cini (2) and Danny Gregory.
