Ended up being a really close game as Storm struggled against a Stretford team who played excellently on the day.
Vincent started in goal, Alf and Fred at the back with Imad and James on the wings.
Beechy started the brightest with Imad breaking down the wings striking a couple wide of the mark - it was Imad who was the creator though, this time finding space on the right, curling an effort on goal. The ball spilled and James was there to strike home to start proceedings
Storm came under pressure - most of their own making - with passes going astray from the defence. Stretford sending warning signs with a break down the right and a strike hitting the post. Both Reggie and George were introduced to try and quell the pressure - however it told as a stray ball found to their striker who took it on from the edge of the box putting it past the Beechy goalie.
There was forays forward as Freddie took the ball forward and Henry operating on the wing had struggled to impact the game. Imad who had a couple of shots did bring Storm back to the fore - his pot shot squeezing past the goalie into the bottom right of the net.
Henry switching to the left flank started to get some joy, skipping past a couple of defenders and finding James, who had all the time in the world to pick his shot placed it into the bottom corner for his second.
As Beechy pressed for another a big long ball went through, eluded our defence and squeezed under our goalie for an unfortunate goal to bring Stretford back into it.
Beechy continued to push but couldn’t create well enough with a dogged Stretford defence. Stretford brought it level with again a goal from their own making - confusion in defence as Alfie came out for the ball, couldn’t make it and despite Reggie’s heroic efforts couldn’t stop the ball trickling over the line.
Couple of wide shots with Fred, Henry and Imad all going high and wide - again as Storm pressed for a winner it was a long ball from Stretford who found their unmarked striker and Alfie produced the save of the match 1 on 1 to deny Stretford their winning goal.
POTM:
One stand out performer today was *James* positive throughout, battled well with none stop running, took both of his goals well and calmly!
