Beechfield Storm gave the opposition a tough time in the first half with a fantastic passing and team performance!
Beechy started the brightest carrying on from the last game passing it round the team - there was limited chances though the breakthrough came through a threaded ball by Henry to Ralph who shot beating the goal keeper to their right. Again moments later Ralph had a break and took the ball from distance surprising the keeper in net and squirming through for his second. Both Alf & Freddie held defence well starting a lot of the moves with accurate passing from the back.
Vincent in net who had made a couple of confident saves though a shot from the edge of the box spilled into the bottom corner to take give the visitors a goal back.
Following changes immediately after George came on with James, who had been on a couple of games barren spell in front of goal, pressed relentlessly and it wasn’t long before he got his eye in - some fantastic finishing was on show as Beechy gained immediate composure with Fred breaking forward and being involved in the passing moves that allowed James to score.
James continued with a shot to the right saved well by the keeper but finished twice more shortly after to clinch his hat-trick. Both powerful shots into the top corner and past the keeper from distance - one assisted by Henry again chief playmaker and Freddie who had worked the ball from the centre.
Beechy had a healthy half time lead then power play came on in the second half making it more difficult for the team to operate. That being said Ralph clinched his own hat-trick to build on a strong first half performance breaking from midfield, taking it round the final defender and finishing expertly to the bottom left.
Other chances followed - a robust challenge on Henry who stepped up and almost had a free kick squirm in, a corner from James finding Alfie in a sea of Urmston players with him unable to take an accurate shot off as well as George who broke powerfully from the defence and had his shot saved at point blank range.
Vincent had saved excellently from a long range shot & distributed well all game though was caught out by a corner which had made its way past him in crowded box to finish the game.
MOTM:
Ralph - every player had contributed excellently from Vincent’s best game in goal, Henry’s, Alfie’s and Fred's playmaking, James’ hat-trick though Ralph due to an excellent first half where he was involved in the play as well as starting Beechy off today with his goals. Deserved the hat-trick!
