*BEECHFIELD UTD U/12's LIGHTNING 5 v Manchester Polonia 0
**Beechy started well with some intricate passing up front and a very secure defensive system that allowed the lads to play out from the back on several occasions. As the first half was coming to an end Beechy were getting well on top and it was a surprise that the half ended nil nil. Second half and the lads started to put in a master class of passing and moving. The first goal came through a rocket to the top corner from Kayson after good work from James and Eshan down the right. Riley was beginning to get on the ball causing issues and deservedly placed a well taken shot past the keeper. Then a flurry of 3 penalties due to frustrations from the Polonia defenders gave Kayson and Riley another goal each. James was unlucky with his due to good reactions from the Polonia keeper. Then as the team pushed for more goals, a goal mouth scramble presented Eshan with a nice tap in from close range. More chances followed leaving Goalie James with little to do at all, one of his quieter games and he will be pleased with a clean sheet and some excellent distribution on the occasions he saw the ball. End result Beechy 5 v Polonia 0
BEECHFIELD UTD U/12's STORM v Hough End Griffins.
**Due to pitch problems at Beech Farm the Under 12's STORM switched their Salford and Districts Junior Football League home game with Hough End Griffins to the Astroturf Pitch at Salford Sports Village. This Division 1 fixture was a lively affair from start to finish and it was the visitors who collected the three points via a 5-1 victory. Max Schofield scored Storm's consolation goal in the second half. Beechy squad was: Barkley, Ismail, Austin, Joel, Denholm, Max, Harvey, Kobe, Harry, Josh.

BEECHFIELD UTD LIGHTNING (1) V Salford Storm Tornadoes (5)
Bobby, Kenny, Angelo, S-Nixon, Freddy Doherty, Bodie Morrison (1), Lucas Jackson, Finley Moran, Ralph Partington, Ronnie Sangster.
Following an excellent performance and 6-1 win the previous week there was an expectation today for a similar result. Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be:
A game where the distribution of Brayden and the speed, attacking ability and mindset of Elliot were sorely missed on the long grass home pitch (Injuries etc).
The ball was immediately lost from kick off, won back from Angelo and then Bodie in midfield winning a challenge, taking on a player and feeding a perfect pass through to Ronnie who took the early shot which was comfortably saved by the keeper. A couple of corner wins for storm and Beechfield being slower to the ball allowed storm to slip in an easy early goal. A wave of negative energy seemed to overcome parts of the Team but they fought on and Ralph picking the ball up on the left managed to drive up the field and find a perfect pass for Bodie who found himself with a full half to run at, Bodie took a heavy initial touch through sheer excitement but with determination and speed managed to beat the keeper to the ball, push it to the side beating two players and ping it in the back of the net! A sure sign of things to come from him. Angelo gaining possession played a super pass down the wing to Ronnie who managed to push forward but the cross was blocked, a second cross eventually found Bodie who managed a shot but safely saved. Several attacks continued with Beechfield miles ahead in possession and passing but couldn’t find that killer finish up front. Storm won a Penalty where it was initially super saved by Bobby who was unlucky on the spin up and the ball managed to find it’s way in. Heads started to drop and attitudes go downhill, loose passes crept back in, gifting Storm another goal. Finley our midfield machine, working as hard as he always does making players twice the size of himself look like they was stood still with a screaming run down the wing against 3 players then being the man to track all the way back preventing a goal! Freddy on the park, finding Bodie who then puts through Jaydon having another great chance without success. Another chance from Freddy into Jaydon who was certain to score, the ball getting caught up in the long grass hampering his shot and unlucky not to score. Excellent positioning. Bodie gaining the ball at the back quickly finds Jaydon who sprints through the field of players towards the box and gets off his shot for it to be well saved and hit the post! Beechfield winning everything on the park apart from the scoreline and the frustration started to show. Changes required due to injury, a run of excellent passing and attacking from Ronnie, Ralph, Jaydon and Freddy but the net could not be found. Freddy finding himself on goal shot just wide, the play all with Beechfield at this point. Finley now ruling midfield finding Ronnie who was unlucky not to find the next pass and a sure goal. Bodie now a tiger at the back alongside the superb calm and reliable Lucas closing down every attack, Lucas showing his rapid improvement and ability at the back and enjoying his role. Beechfield having all the possession high up the field passing the ball around but again not able to find the net, the improvement in play great to see but frustrating for the lads for the scoreline. Beechfield with several 2 on 1 chances only to struggle at the final hurdle, the grass not helping and Storm with a rare chance managing to find the net again. Another penalty for Storm and Bobby the super shot stopper pulls off a blinding save! Lucas and Finlay Teaming up at the back the ball being sent up quickly to rapid Ronnie with his great positioning but no cigar again! Corners for Beechy proving unsuccessful it was going to be a game they could play all day and still not score another. Bobby later pulling off a good save then sending Ronnie and Jayden up again with numbers on Storm but it was not to be.
So many positives from this game, work for coaches to focus on and get that confidence up front, some behaviours for parents and coaches to work on with players attitudes and frustrations. With the return of Brayden and Elliot in the coming weeks the Team will no doubt be difficult to beat. Through sheer tenacity, personal sacrifice and effort of many people involved, the major loss of star players, various issues and training facility setbacks finally seem to be in the past and a wonderful team again in the making.. a loss, but a development gain. 👌👏
**BEECHFIELD UTD U/13's TORNADOES 3 v Flixton Albion 2
Well it was worth the journey from Blackpool this morning.
I don’t think we played particularly well today. I put that down to not having played for a couple of weeks.
Having Harvey out injured disjointed the team somewhat. But that being said, I thought Max and Kian did brilliant in goal each half. Thanks to them for stepping up today….
First half was a slow burner and we took time to get going. Flixton scored from a flick off a corner to make it 1-0.
Not long after that, Archie worked hard off the ball and won us the possession halfway, he found Lucio who put Tom R through who slotted home to make it 1-1. Half time
Second half we were the better side and took the lead from a great through ball to Max who finished well to make it 2-1.
We didn’t quite get hold of the game today which was frustrating and Flixton capitalised from some sloppy defending and they equalised to make it 2-2.
Credit to the lads who kept on going to the very end and were rewarded with a very late winner to make it 3-2! Zach got us home!
That’s a sign of a good side though who can win when we don’t play at our best.
Motm went to both our keepers today. Proper team players and 2 top performances.

**BEECHFIELD UTD TORNADOES U8s v Moss Lane Rovers
Saturday 18th April 2026

First Half:
We were three players down but a fast start from the Tornadoes saw Noah open the scoring after a good pass from Franklin.
Rocco added a second with a strong run and finish before Noah grabbed another from a rebound to make it 3-0.
Great pressing from Noah then set up Eric for 4-0 and the goals kept coming with Eric adding another.
Theo caused problems down the wing scoring and linking well with Rocco for a great team goal.
Noah rounded off the half scoring from Theo’s cross to make it 8-0.
Second Half:
Theo took control in the second half scoring several goals including a strike from halfway. Eric added more with some good individual play while Franklin also found the net with a strong finish. Moss Lane managed a goal late on but Tornadoes responded straight away with Eric scoring twice more to seal a 20-1 win.
A strong team performance with great energy, teamwork and attacking play throughout.

BEECHFIELD UTD THUNDER 9 v Urmston Meadowside Rebels 3
Thunder took the spoils at home against a determined Urmston team two competitive teams playing some great footy Goalscorers for Thunder where Aldo Gannon four Gideon James two Freddie Tipton two and Captain Ronnie Green one. Thunder with there usual dogged workman like spirit getting them through the game and at times showed again how they are finishing teams with there fluent passing and determination to win the ball when out of possession some strong performances today from the squad and again three points in the bag, five league games to go and building some good momentum heading towards finals day.

🎙️ Match Commentary
The match began on an ideal spring morning, with Beechfield arriving slightly short on numbers due to holidays but ready to compete. The starting lineup featured Harry in goal, Caspian and Jaiden in defence, and Samuel alongside Kevin, who returned after a few matches away.
From the opening whistle, AFC Urmston Meadowside U7 Sharks applied heavy pressure, creating multiple chances. However, a combination of strong defending and missed finishing opportunities kept the score level.
Around the 10-minute mark, the introduction of Jude and William brought fresh energy and ideas, helping Beechfield settle into the match. The breakthrough came at approximately minute 15, when Samuel delivered a long pass to Kevin, who controlled it brilliantly, beat the defence, and finished to give Beechfield the lead.
The first half ended with Beechfield ahead 1–0 after a disciplined and resilient performance.
The second half began with immediate pressure from Urmston, who equalised within the first minute. Shortly after, capitalising the space we give they added a second goal to take the lead.
Beechfield responded well. Kevin once again found the net with a similar move to his first goal, this time assisted by William, bringing the score level at 2–2.
The boys continued to push, creating good chances, but were denied either by strong goalkeeping or shots just off target. As the match neared its end, Urmston found the decisive moment, scoring their third goal to take the lead.
Despite continued effort, Beechfield couldn’t find the equaliser before the final whistle, with the match ending 3–2.
It was a very balanced game against a familiar opponent, with both teams competing strongly throughout. Urmston made the most of their opportunities, while Beechfield showed solid play, good teamwork, and plenty of positives despite the result.

It was one of those days you want the players to bottle and keep forever.
We came away 11–2 winners, but the scoreline only tells part of the story. What really stood out was how the team approached the game—calm, thoughtful and focused on making the right decisions in every moment. That’s something we’ve been working on and today it showed in abundance.
Ezra led the line brilliantly, finishing with a hat-trick and showing real composure in front of goal. Ellis added two more with sharp movement and awareness, while Oscar, Jayden, Arlo, Cormac, Amir and Ralph all got themselves on the scoresheet—each goal a reflection of good choices, teamwork and unselfish play.
A special mention to Leo as well, who had a fantastic game. His effort, positioning and willingness to do the simple things well helped the team tick throughout.
What made the day even more valuable was the spirit in which it was played. To keep things balanced and enjoyable for everyone, Ezra, Ralph, and Ellis stepped in for the opposition in the second half, showing incredible sportsmanship. Ellis even grabbed both goals for them, which brought smiles all around and kept the game competitive.
That’s what today was really about—not just winning, but creating an environment where everyone could enjoy themselves, challenge themselves and make positive memories together. The players supported each other, made smart decisions and played with the right attitude from start to finish.
If they keep approaching the game like this, the results will take care of themselves—but more importantly, they’ll keep growing and enjoying every moment of it.

In preparation for the finals Storm stepped up into U10's development league which produced a fantastic, competitive game of football.
Evenly matched both teams were battling, storm playing potentially the better football though chances were few and far between.
Storm's chances in the half - Nathan picked up the ball on the right squeezing it across the box without connection & another time acrobatically hit wide by Arman.
James with a power left footed effort whistling over the bar & Jacob had a chance in the box following a cross in which unfortunately flashed wide.
Deans did trouble the goal of storm despite the rekindling partnership echoing of a Ferdinand & Vidic combo (Josh & Reggie) playing excellent first halves - a mix up in defence gave the tigers a shot on goal which clipped the post & Vincent was called upon to make an acrobatic save to deny Deans a goal.
Coming out at half time with a small tactical tweak saw Nathan further forward with Jacob marshalling in front of the defence paid dividends - Arman who had been a bulldozer all match won the ball against a defender twice the size, playing out wide to the oncoming Nathan who marauded forward pinging a shot from the edge of the box into the bottom left.
Deans got a few warning shots off - mainly through dead ball as a freekick was tipped onto the crossbar by & a goal kick which was slapped from one side to the other needed a palm across by Alfie in net.
Storm did look in control though it was a mistake at the back as storm tried to play out that cost them against a much bigger team, Alfie ran out though through deflections the ball fell to the striker from a millimetre out (not exact measurement).
Storm responded well - James nailed the crossbar with a kick in. As the game swung like a pendulum, Vincent now outfield fouled to the right of the goal & Nathan who had already testing the goal keeper from one freekick took a smart low free kick bamboozling the goalkeeper.
Storm well on the ascendancy had chances from break aways; Josh taking the ball and playing through Nathan who raced on, a curling effort tipped onto the post.
Hearts were broken with the last kick of the game - a foul on the edge of the box expertly dispatched to the top left.
Overall a solid first game playing a year up for the storm boys with a couple of learnings to go with it.

*Nathan* - his development this year has been nothing short of phenomenal & in the second half took the game to deans, unlucky to not have his hattrick.
Players Parent:
*Arman* - was an absolute combatant today, a heart and soul performance where he regularly got storm on the front foot, it was his tenacity that provided the first goal.

There was a rare win for Beechy U/16's TORNADOES who had home advantage in this Salford and District Junior League Division 1 fixture. Following a closely fought contest the Tornadoes secured a 2-1 victory. On target with both Beechy goals was Daniel Riding.
