Won: 0-0 (2-0 on penalties) HT 0-0

MotM: Matthew Elliott

The Hurricanes faced a Barr Hill side for the fourth time in five weeks. This time it was a cup match against the Clubs team that they drew with 2-2 at home in a league fixture, so everyone anticipated a close game. The fixture started with an impeccably observed minute's silence for Armistice Day.

The Hurricanes started well and enjoyed the lion's share of possession during the first half. However, despite some great passing football which lead to good efforts on goal from Jai Devani-White, Alfie Latham, Oliver Hall and man of the Match Matthew Elliott, it remained scoreless at half time.

Barr Hill came into the game a little more in the second half and Beechfield's well-organised defence was tested. However they remained solid throughout with Dillan Caldwell having a particularly impressive debut at the back. The Hurricanes still posed a threat on the counter-attack though and almost snatched a late winner in the final seconds as Daniel Robinson hit the woodwork. Despite Beechfield being the superior team, the game ended 0-0 and went to penalties.

Beechfield took four well-struck penalties: the first one produced a good save from their 'keeper, Oliver Hall and Daniel Robinson scored with their chances and then the final effort rattled the post! Beechfield 'keeper Oliver Dalton-Bunker, who had hardly touched the ball during the game, then managed to save all four of the Barr Hill spot-kicks to seal a pulsating 2-0 shootout victory!

After the game manager Ben Robinson said "Both teams were very well organised today, as the the scoreline showed at the final whistle. We were the better team over all and could have won the game, especially in the last minute. I would like to praise all the players for their hard work and for paying attention. Defensively we were far more organised then Oliver pulled off some outstanding saves in the penalty shoot out, especially the first one that could be up there with save of the season (I'll have to watch it back on MOTD tonight!) We are working together much more as a team so I'm a very proud manager. Matthew had a brilliant game today and definitely deserved Man of the Match. Congratulations to Dillan on his excellent debut performance".

The Hurricanes squad for the match was: Oliver Dalton-Bunker, Alfie Latham, Jai Devani-White, Oliver Hall, Dillan Caldwell, Matthew Elliott, Jamie Maher, Joshua Whitehead, Presley Smith, Sean Cosgrove, Daniel Robinson.
