U9 Hurricanes (Home) v Manchester Maccabi Eagles
Sunday 18th February 2018 (10.00am)
Beech Farm Playing Fields #2, Shelley Rd, M27 0PB
Referee: Tyler Winstanley

Won: 7-0 (HT 3-0)
Goals: Jamie Maher, Joshua Whitehead, Presley Smith, Daniel Robinson, Dillan Caldwell (2), Jai Devani-White
MotM: Dillan Caldwell

The Hurricanes lined up against the Eagles for the second meeting between the teams in just over a month. Beechfield had won the last cup fixture 4-1, although it had only been 1-1 at half time and the home team were missing Sean Cosgrove this time round, due to illness.

Maccabi were on the back-foot straight from the kick off as Beechfield had the lion’s share of possession and tested the visitor’s goalkeeper several times early on. The continuing pressure paid-off in the 12th minute as Beechfield captain Jamie Maher coolly slotted home his first goal of the season.

This gave the home team even more confidence and Matthew Elliott and Alfie Latham both had good efforts saved before Joshua Whitehead fired home Daniel Robinson’s cross to double the Hurricane’s advantage in the 20th minute. Just before half time Presley Smith hammered home from close range to give the home team and well-deserved 3-0 lead as they went into the break.

The second half continued in exactly the same way and it wasn’t long until leading-goal-scorer Daniel Robinson added his name to the scoresheet, after turning home a cross from the increasingly influential Oliver Hall. Oliver Hall also had a hand in the Hurricanes’ fifth goal as he and Presley Smith combined to set up Dillan Caldwell for his first goal of the season.

Jai Devani-White was the sixth different goal-scorer for the home team, as he chipped home from close range after another assist from Presley Smith. As the game drew to a close, Man of the Match Dillan Caldwell doubled is goal tally for the game, and the season, with a well-taken finish from Oliver Hall’s corner.

Home ‘keeper Oliver Dalton-Bunker hardly had a save to make in securing his second consecutive clean sheet and, had it not been for a good performance from the Eagles’ goalkeeper, it could easily have been an even bigger win for Beechfield.

After the game, manager Ben Robinson said "Thanks everyone today, and especially for helping out too. That was a great performance from start to finish and might very well be our best game yet. Every player worked hard today, and the result shows it. We could’ve got into double figures today with our performance. Well done Dillan for MotM and well done to all the boys".

The Hurricanes squad for the match was: Oliver Dalton-Bunker, Joshua Whitehead, Jamie Maher, Alfie Latham, Oliver Hall, Matthew Elliott, Dillan Caldwell, Jaiesh Devani-White, Presley Smith, Daniel Robinson.
