Referee: George Hill

Won: 2-1 (HT 0-1)
Goals: Daniel Robinson (2)
MotM: Alfie Latham

In their first game for over a month, the Hurricanes kicked off the New Year with a game against a Deans side who had narrowly beaten them in the previous match. All other games on Salford pitches had been called off due to the poor weather but this game went ahead, albeit in freezing conditions.

Despite losing their last match against the same opposition, and a lengthy rest since that game due to poor weather and the Christmas break, the Beechfield team made a positive start to the fixture and dominated the early possession. However, despite a series of corners and a number of good efforts, the Deans defence remained resolute and the game remained scoreless and closely contested. Toward the end of the half, following a rare count-attack, a lapse in concentration led to a mix-up in the Beechy defence that handed Deans the opening goal, completely against the run of play.

An inspirational team-talk at half time from manager Ben Robinson and his new Assistant Manager Glenn Whitehead had a positive impact on the Hurricanes players, as they continued to dominate possession. Their efforts were eventually rewarded with an equaliser from top-scorer Daniel Robinson who fired home a long-range free kick.

This seemed to give Beechfield even more confidence and they continued to stream forward, earning several more corners and chances at goal. They finally took the lead as Daniel Robinson struck again, scoring his thirteenth league goal of the season, this time after some good work from Oliver Hall.

The closing stages were tense as Deans pushed for an equaliser but some determined defence, a good save from ‘keeper Oliver Dalton-Bunker and some ferocious tackling from Man of the Match Alfie Latham prevented Deans from scoring again. After a closely fought match the Hurricanes secured a well-deserved win and took revenge over a side who had beaten them by the same score-line 5 weeks earlier

After the game, manager Ben Robinson said "That was a great start to the New Year against a very well organised Deans team. It took us a while to get into the game, which I can only put down to match fitness and a long time out from training, but second half we came out more determined and being 1-0 down did not phase us. The 1-2 win could have been 4 or 5 with some fantastic deliveries from Oliver Hall and Jaiesh Devani-White. We just need to be more clinical in front of goal, there’s still a lot of work to do but we're going in the right direction. Overall a good team effort."

The Hurricanes squad for the match was: Oliver Dalton-Bunker, Dillan Caldwell, Jamie Maher, Sean Cosgrove, Oliver Hall, Joshua Whitehead, Daniel Robinson, Matthew Elliott, Jaiesh Devani-White, Presley Smith, Alfie Latham.
