POSTED: October 12 2016 12:24:23. By Oscar Courtney - U7's Tornadoes V Parkwyddn U7 Phoenix

Saturday 24th September, Beech Farm, KO 10.30am, League.

Minus Stewart Kay, who was on holiday, the U7's Tornadoes took to the field in great heart for this, their first ever league fixture. Setting the early pace the Tornadoes took the game to Parkwyddn and enjoyed the bulk of first half possession. Only for the heroics of the Parkwyddn keeper, the Tornadoes would have been out of sight. As it was the Tornadoes finished the half a goal in arrears, punished for an unfortunate slip.
Undaunted the Tornadoes picked up where they left off with Alfie Lacey, Dylan Courtney, Logan McFeely, George Wadeson, Daire Cox, Jack McMinn and Flinn Rogers (in nets) all really impressing. Sadly, a free kick awarded to Parkwyddn was converted meaning that the Tornadoes had an even bigger mountain to climb. However, their spirit and hard work was to be rewarded with 5 minutes to go when a shot from Alfie trickled over the line. Buoyed at last by the sudden change in fortune the Tornadoes carried on with Dylan and Daire all coming close. Finally with a minute of regulation time left, Alfie again unleashed a thunderbolt and again he found the net. A great finish to a great team performance. Well done lads!
MOTM award deservedly went to Flinn Rogers for a goal keeping master class, that kept his team in the tie.
