Saturday 27th May, Eccles Rugby Club, KO 11.15am, League.

On a blistering hot day, minus three very important players, the Tornadoes put on a brilliant show to end their league campaign with a great victory.

With Jack in nets for the first half, and George stationed in defence, there was little threat posed to the Beechfield goal. As the half wore on and it was apparent that we were having the bulk of possession, Richard and I decided to move George up to striker and put Daire as the last man.

Although George didn't score, his relentless pressure lead to a long clearance from the Winton keeper, which Daire, with great control and composure, sent right back to the keeper, finding the corner of the net. A great goal to send the Tornadoes on their way!

The second half saw Jack make way for Daire, in nets, and move to the strikers position. With Logan and Dylan dominating the midfield battle, Jack got plenty of the ball as he was constantly supplied by our two midfield enforcers.

Logan was superb in his running with the ball, which relieved the pressure on George and Daire, allowing us to constantly regain our shape. His tireless endeavour earned him the Man Of The Match accolade.

Dylan rode several robust challenges and made some key interventions, as well as supplying good balls to Jack, two of which Jack scored from. In fact, Jack's second was hit with such ferocity that, but for the nets, I think the ball would be in orbit now!

Despite the late concession of a free kick the Tornadoes saw the game out and finished their debut season on a high note.

In summary, Richard and I are both very proud of the lads. They've had a fantastic first season in organised football and they can be very proud of themselves and the brilliant progress that they've made this term. If you think back to this time last year and look at them now, I think you'll agree that they're barely recognisable from the team that they were!

Oscar.
