POSTED: January 24 2017 15:14:40. By Oscar Courtney - U7 Tornadoes v U7 Salford FC United Devils

Sunday 22nd January, Beech Farm, KO 11am, Friendly.

A difficult tie for the Tornadoes, who found themselves missing three players due to illness. This meant the Tornadoes had to play the whole match without any substitutions. Factoring in the extremely cold weather conditions, and length of grass on the pitch, the Tornadoes did well to compete as they did. Despite the final score, all the lads played well and they can consider themselves very unlucky to have lost. There can be no doubt that the Tornadoes, particularly in the first half, had the bulk of possession and created, by far, the most chances in the game. Therefore, it was very disheartening not to register more goals. However, the lads can console themselves with the fact that Salford boasted an absolutely fantastic goalkeeper who, more or less, won the match for his team. Individually wise, Stewart played fantastically well, especially in the first half, when he was stationed in defence. Along with Jack in nets, for the first half, nothing got past them so the fist half ended honours even. This despite some good running from Flinn and Alfie and strong tackling from Logan. In the second half, now joined by Jack, Flinn and Alfie continued to press and create chances for the Tornadoes. Thankfully one great move from the boys saw Alfie convert a chance from outside the area. However, that was to be it for the Tornadoes as they fell victim to three counter attacking goals from Salford. Overall, and despite the great effort from the boys, it wasn't to be our day. Instead now we can look forward to the resumption of the league, next week, and pitting ourselves, again, against teams like Salford FC United Devils. MOTM: Alfie Lacey.
