POSTED: February 20 2017 12:04:17. By Oscar Courtney - SWINTON U7 SHARKS V U7 TORNADOES

Saturday 18th February, Barton Road, KO 9am, League.

For the first 10 or so minutes, the Tornadoes, playing 'uphill' struggled to get a foothold on the game. Boasting plenty of possession, and creating lots of chances, the boys just couldn't seem to find the net. Finally though, Dylan was able to break the deadlock with a good finish, high in to the net. Swinton quickly rallied though, shortly after, to equalise with a brilliant shot from the edge of the area. The Tornadoes, however, showed a great response when some good passing from Dylan set Flinn free to shoot against the post. Flinn, however, showed great awareness to slot the rebound home and see the advantage rest with the Tornadoes, as the Ref blew for half time. Playing 'downhill', in the second half, spectators saw the Tornadoes wrestle the momentum away from the Sharks as we went on the rampage! In a quite ruthless and breathtaking display the boys clocked up several more goals without reply, as Stewart, Daire, George and Alfie (4) all found the net. Overall, it was a fine display that banished the unhappy memories of the week before against Urmston. All the boys performed well; Dylan's passing was excellent, Flinn's effort and application was inspirational, Alfie was his usual clinical self, Stewart had a big smile on his face all game and performed admirably, Daire was extremely intelligent in his play and positioning, Logan was hard working and determined and George was composed and cool throughout. However, MOTM went to Jack for a great display in nets and outfield.
Oscar.
