Saturday 10th December 2016, Beech Farm, KO 12pm, Friendly.

6 Tornadoes turned up for this end of year festive friendly against 5 of the Non-Tornadoes, who join us weekly for training sessions. What a wonderful spectacle it was, superbly reffed by Richard who was 'keen to let the game flow'! Playing four 10 minute quarters, rather than the standard 20 minutes each way, allowed the boys to get a breather and rotate the goal keeper position. In a pulsating display of attacking and counter attacking football it was the Non-Tornadoes who drew first blood, when Brodie found the net after being played clean through by Charlie. Undeterred by this early set back the Tornadoes started to get in to a rhythmn and eventually found the net through Alfie Lacey. Subsequent goals were to follow from Dylan Courtney and Alfie before the Non-Tornadoes started to claw their way back in to the match, with more goals for Brodie, Charlie and Oscar. However, it wasn't to be the Non-Tornadoes' day as Stewart Kay and Flinn Rogers added to the Tornadoes goal tally to ensure that the Tornadoes just nicked the game, as the final whistle blew. Overall it was a terrific and exciting match and both teams should be delighted with their play. One particular highlight for me was the number of great saves pulled off by Sam as well as the great improvement shown by Eddie. Added to that was the excellent defensive discipline demonstrated by both George Wadeson and Logan McFeely, which gave the Tornadoes a brilliant balance to their play. A good match then for all concerned, but especially Stewart who picked up the MOTM award for his spirited and alert performance.
