POSTED: October 19 2017 11:29:37. By Oscar Courtney - U13 TORNADOES V BARR HILL U13 ACES

Saturday 14th October, Duchy Playing Fields, KO 10am, League.

With only 11 players reporting for duty and up against the league leaders this was always going to be difficult tie.

And so it proved to be, with the Tornadoes struggling to get a foothold in the game against the probable title winners.

There's little more to say, other than credit to the boys for continuing to compete, in what must have been a thoroughly demoralising match for them!

Barr Hill kept the ball superbly and moved it around with great aplomb. They were physically strong, very motivated and extremely focussed.

On the plus side for us, the move that lead to our consolation goal was a great sweeping attack from midfield. Max, however, I felt was rather cynically brought down when about
to pull the trigger. Therefore, it's credit to him that he managed to convert the penalty from what seriously looked like 18 yards out.

Apart from that one move of genuine team quality there wasn't much else to show for our efforts. Yet, we kept going and that shows that we have a bit of character in this team.

Hopefully, as we get on in to the league campaign, we might face some easier tests in the future!

Final score:
Tornadoes 1 -17 Barr Hill Aces.
