De La Salle Hawks 4-3 Typhoon
Typhoon were happy to welcome two new faces to the squad, Sonny and Reece joining after Storm folded, which was just as well with Joseph and Milonga unavailable.
Hawks started top of the table but you wouldn’t have known in the first quarter of the game as Typhoon started exceptionally and dominated. For the second week in succession Ronan latched on to a Cole cross and opened the scoring. That we only managed the one at this point would ultimately cost us, we need to score more when we’re on top.
Hawks came back into it and equalised and it turned into a really, really exciting and very close game. We scored a belting goal on the break from a corner I think, Jamie making a delicious through ball that Daniel buried into the corner.
Peter nearly made a miraculous save from a tremendous Hawks’ shot but couldn’t quite keep it out and with time running out we found ourselves two down. Cue Sonny to remind us all what he’s capable of, smashing one into the top corner from outside the box. We threw everything at them in the search for an equaliser but it just wouldn’t happen. We tried right to the final whistle with Charlie twisting and turning but unable to beat their keeper.
It was an excellent performance from the boys, full of spirit and hard work. When we started to pass the ball we looked a decent outfit but unfortunately we must wait another week for that first win.
Freddie earned the man of the match award for another solid display at the back.
