Saturday 22nd October, Highfield Close, KO 9.30am, League Match.

Having watched 'tense' football matches, throughout the world, from Glasgow to Buenos Aires, I thought I'd 'experienced' hostile and heated atmospheres. However, nothing had prepared me for this game. It had everything. Sadly, 'everything' was largely due to some of the home spectators' behaviour. Not wishing to dwell on the unedifying sight of grown adults verbally abusing minors I'll move on to the actual game itself. The match was a glorious contest and our boys did themselves proud. They played their game, they made a hatful of chances and they stood up to be counted when it was required. They showed tremendous resilience and character to see the game out, at the end, and pick up three vital points. Ronan, got our first goal with another blistering surge in to the area and a well placed shot beyond the Stretford keeper. Alan, added a further two following tremendous work, from Harrison, Max, Joe H and Brandon. However, the MOTM trophy had to go to Callum, who saved a penalty and made three absolute world class saves in the dying minutes to ensure his team won three points and moved off the bottom of the table. Well done everyone, particularly Patrick who was a colossus throughout and Will and Jamie who threw their bodies on the line time and time again. Immense! Final score:
Stretford Victoria 2 - 3 Tornadoes.
