Saturday 1st April, Eccles College, 10am KO, Friendly.

Going again with our new 3-3-2 formation, the Tornadoes met AFC Salford Juniors in a friendly, on the 3G, at Eccles College.

Although, AFC Salford are 2nd in Division Two I'd say we more than matched them, for a substantial part of the game. Particularly in the first half, I thought, we were well set out, organised and resilient.
But for the concession of a goal, following one of our goal kicks, 30 seconds from half time, we'd have held on to a first half clean sheet.

That mistake apart, we competed all over the pitch against AFC Salford and we took the lead, about 15 minutes in, after a great goal from Alan.
Alan, had a second, almost identical, chance about 5 minutes after his goal but was unable to convert that effort.

In the second half, AFC Salford, stepped it up a gear or two and we struggled to fashion any further meaningful chances. However, I was very pleased with the application and effort showed by the boys in the second half, along with their tactical discipline.

But for another couple of rudimentary mistakes, in defence, and the failure to play the ball quicker to supporting players, in space, during attacking moves, we could have secured a draw.

Overall, it was a great display by the lads who didn't look outclassed by their Division Two opponents. A performance, with this kind of discipline and organisation, against teams in our own Division should result in greater dividends.

MOTM for a great, hard working display went to Joe Mountcastle.

Final Score:
AFC Salford 4 - 1 Tornadoes.
