Beechfield United U11s Tornadoes V Dean's Youth Panthers, Beech Farm, 10am KO.

This was another tricky encounter for the ten men of Tornadoes. With a number of players starting in positions they wouldn't be used to, this lent an experimental feel to the early exchanges. However, as the game progressed, particularly in the second period, the Tornadoes put together some excellent passing football. Max Chidgey and Ronan Courtney linked up extremely well when a glorious pass from Max whipped across goal only failed, by a matter of inches, to be met by Ronan. The Tornadoes first goal was a well worked move. William Whipday seeing his chance hit a strong shot from the edge of the penalty area. The Dean's keeper parried the ball and an alert Ronan seized on the loose ball and rounded the floored keeper to slot home. The Tornadoes second goal was another well worked corner met in the air by Max Chidgey whose header deflected off a Dean's defender and went in. All in all the Tornadoes finally got some goals which their hard work has deserved and I think they can be pleased with a better performance than their first league game. Ronan Courtney, Jamie Butterworth and Tom Messenger all really impressed, especially Tom who pulled off a world class save late in the first half. But MOTM went to Max Chidgey who despite starting as a sub came on and lifted his team mates with an excellent hard working performance. His goal was well deserved and demonstrates his desire to keep playing and never give up!
