POSTED: May 30 2016 20:28:48. By Oscar Courtney - U11 Tornadoes V Maccabi Vipers u11

Sunday 22nd May 2016, Beech Farm, KO 13.30.

With virtually a full squad to pick from, and goalkeeper Tom Messenger back in position, the Tornadoes took to the field in good heart for this, their penultimate match of the 2015-2016 campaign. Although enjoying the bulk of possession, and creating the greater amount of chances, the Tornadoes approached the half time break at level pegging with the score at 1-1. However, Maccabi Vipers started the second half with great determination forcing a succession of corners the last of which paid dividends as they took the lead. This thankfully was the cue for the Tornadoes to step up a gear or two. Chance after chance was fashioned as the Tornadoes levelled and then streaked away to score another three excellent goals. On the scoresheet for Beechy were Brandon Wabayi, Sam Jones, Ronan Courtney and a brace from Alan Kay. All in all, this was a delightful, mature performance from the Tornadoes and was the best way of banishing the memories of the disappointing display against Winton Orange the week before. The defence was solid with Tom M looking increasingly confident as the game wore on. The midfield were intelligent and hard working, particularly Callum Looby and Joe Hope and the forward line were as clinical as ever. MOTM was awarded to the entire team!
