POSTED: February 25 2016 22:51:39. By Oscar Courtney - FRIENDLY: U11 Tornadoes V De La Salle Reds

Saturday 6th Feb 2016, Walkden High School, KO 10.00am.

Once again the Tornadoes came up against a well organised and disciplined De La Salle Reds outfit who dominated the early exchanges. Due to a sluggish start, the Tornadoes were already in arrears before Will, playing as centre back, delivered an excellent defence splitting pass that set Ronan free, to run through on goal. Although under pressure, from a De La Salle defender, Ronan managed to steady himself and dispatched an excellent half volley in to the net. Although they suffered another setback, the Tornadoes started to play a bit better in the second half with Patrick winning a lot of the ball in midfield. Sadly though, the Tornadoes midfield, with the exception of Patrick, neglected their defensive duties and they soon found the game beyond their reach. However, the boys were enjoying their attacking play and a long clearance from Tom M was latched on to, by Callum, who produced a clever flick to beat the De La Salle keeper, at his near post. Over all, as the game progressed, the Tornadoes superior fitness began to tell and they definitely finished the stronger. Who knows, but for some better decision making, concentration and composure in front of goal, a draw could have been earned. Man of the Match went to Joe M (pic above) who put in a wonderfully mature and intelligent performance. A real team player! Finally, a special mention to another team player, Patrick, who was absolutely tireless in carrying out his manager's instructions.
