- FRIENDLY: U11 Tornadoes V De La Salle Reds
Saturday 5th December 2015, Walkden High School, KO: 9.30am.
Playing a hastily arranged Friendly, on one third of a full size 3G pitch at Walkden High School, turned in to a tricky encounter for the Tornadoes. Initially, playing with four at the back, the idea was to contain De La Salle Reds. However, having a 9 a side format meant that the pitch was congested and for most of the first half the Tornadoes were over run in midfield and found it very difficult to settle on the ball and build attacks. As half time approached the Tornadoes had already conceded a couple of goals when it was decided to move to three at the back and play Jamie further forward in central midfield. As the second half progressed the Tornadoes started to play some excellent football and created a number of chances, hitting the post twice. The move of the match saw Brandon, Max and Joe Hope all interchanging passes to open up the De La Salle defence, with Brandon finishing the move off with a superbly placed pass in to the net beyond the reach of the De La Salle keeper. Although the Tornadoes persisted they fell victim to another goal and the match finished. Once again the Tornadoes played well in spells but their lack of desire and tactical discipline let De La Salle in to the game. Stand out performers for the Tornadoes were Max Chidgey and Jamie Butterworth but the MOTM award went to Joe Hope who was excellent throughout, with his passing and vision second to none.
