- Deans (friendly)
Another cold and wet Saturday morning, but that didn't stop us getting a great turnout for the team. As our game had been cancelled earlier in the week we had a chance to book a 3G pitch early and thanks to Jonah for organising it.
So with 13 players and playing a 7v7 match, we decided on having 2 different teams for each half to give everyone a decent run out.
First half we started with Woody, Leo, Liam, Josh, Demi, Zane and kyle. Honestly I'm not exaggerating when I say the first 15/20 mins was the probably the best football I've seen this team play. Deans are no mugs and were recently moved up a division, but we battered them with some very good football. Nothing got past Liam and Leo, and that was if they could get past Josh. Zane,Demi and Kyle were linking up very well and we created 7 or 8 really good chances. Deans just couldn't get near the ball and how we only scored 2 in that time is a mystery. Kyle put us in front and the excellent Josh scrambled the ball over to make it 2-0. On another day Kyle would have got 3 or 4 and one play down the left saw him exchange passes with Demi only to hit the shot just wide. (not used to these smaller nets).
Anyway unbelievably Deans got 2 back and we went in at half time 2-2 :(
Second half we had Aaron, Mikey, Will, Joel, Robert and Matthew. Another strong line up.
Again we started strong and looked the better team. Joel, Robert and Matt were causing problems going forward and it was an excellent finish from Matt off the post that put us back in front. Deans tho looked like they had mastered the no offsides in this game better than us, our defence left the Deans forward on his own a few times and coupled with Woody having an off day we conceded a few silly goals. Will did his best to cover Mikey who was up and down the line looking dangerous and Aaron made a couple of important challenges.
We still created chances and the Deans keeper pulled off a couple of crackers, and from one corner Robert chipped the ball in and Matthew caught it sweet on the volley to score his 2nd. Goal of the match from Matthew.
So in the end an undeserved defeat, but lots of positives to take from the match. And I have no doubt that on a 9v9 we would have won this game.
Some excellent football played today and we could easily have been 5 or 6 up by half time.
Final score 4-7
Goals
Kyle
Josh

MOTM Josh Harris
Hard decision. Lots of good performances today. Zane, Josh and Matthew in the running, but i'll just give it to Josh.
Keep it up guys, play like this and we won't lose many matches. Back to the league next week hopefully and before this we had won 7 out of 9 in competitive matches.
So bring on next Saturday and no doubt a wet and cold morning. But we love it :)
