Congratulations boys!
Things always looked like they were going to be tough for this one. Only seven players available and Ronan wasn't moving too freely from the off. neither were the rest of the team and a slow start was punished with a goal and it could have been worse. Slowly the boys managed to fight their way back into the match and started making decent chances. By half time an equaliser would have been deserved but it didn't arrive until Joseph slotted home from a melee at a corner. By now it was end to end stuff, not helped by the fact that Milonga was not feeling well and getting slower and slower. Considering how poorly he was feeling, he put in a magnificent effort.
Jamie did a beautiful turn and shot that shaved the post and Daniel had a good effort saved by the legs of their keeper, who played well throughout. Peter didn't have too much to do with Ladybridge putting some clear chances wide.
One all at the final whistle was a pretty valiant effort and we were very proud of the team.
Penalties are a lottery and the defining moment came when one of theirs hit both posts without crossing the line. Peter saved another and Ronan scored to win the game.
Joseph was a deserved man of the match, covering every blade of grass as well as scoring.
This now means we go into a 3-way playoff next Saturday, playing mini games against Ladybridge and Swinton Cobras for the right to go through to the next round.
